Dear Parents I am sure those of you who joined us for Any Questions? last Friday would agree that it certainly lived up to expectations. We had a lively forum with a full house. Afterwards, we entertained Jonathan Dimbleby and the four members of the panel in a convivial atmosphere which contrasts sharply with the passionate debating we enjoyed earlier. I am grateful to the members of the school community, including the maintenance and catering departments, for supporting this special event. I am delighted to advise you that our pupils have truly demonstrated their tremendous talents in scholarship exams to senior schools. This has been an exceptional year with 28 Scholarships achieved – academic, music, sport, art and all-rounder – as well as several Common Entrance exemptions. Not only does this reflect the excellence of our pupils, it is an endorsement of the high quality of teaching underpinned by strong parental support. A full list is included in this edition. Congratulations to the Junior Department on another wonderful production this week. The costumes, singing and acting were all fantastic. The Senior Department are looking forward to this afternoon when they shall enjoy the school fair organised by our School Council. I wish you and your family a most enjoyable half-term break, especially the 6th Form who will be doing Common Entrance when they return.

Michael Connolly

Bright Stars News

This week, Pre-nursery read the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. They had great fun planting their own beans.

The Nursery children made a fantastic volcano and made it erupt in the garden. It was so exciting!

Music News

Music Theory Help We have a record number of children taking a Theory of Music exam at Cranmore on June 17. I know that these pupils are already working hard to complete the practice papers they have been given and most are doing this without additional support. However, if any child taking the exam does need assistance with any of the theory topics, they should come to my room on any Friday before the exam, at 1.30pm. Mr Harris Director of Music

A win for the J13 quadruple scull crew at Walton and Weybridge Regatta Cranmore J13 quadruple scull won an exciting final last Saturday at Walton and Weybridge Regatta against rival Danes Hill School. After all the rain last week, the river was running faster than normal and, with a brisk following wind, conditions were not easy. The crew of J Brookes, W Cattermoul, J Harrison and B Behn, coxed by J Wilson, skilfully got attached to the stake boats anchored in the river. After a flying start, the crew settled into their race rhythm and gradually pulled away from Danes Hill to win by two lengths. As it was our home regatta, our J10 and J11s manned the stake boats and helped run the regatta. They did an excellent job and learnt how a regatta runs. We must thank all the parents who helped us get the crew ready and on the water, as well as serving on the refreshment stalls. Mr Martin Head of Rowing
