Dear Parents I was delighted that there was such good weather last Saturday for Crancamp. The sea of tents in the Henderson Fields was a remarkable transformation from the cricket which had been played there earlier in the day. This has been a marvellous week to close the academic year. We enjoyed the final of the Young Musician Competition on Monday, the Senior Drama Production on Tuesday, the Ski Club Presentation on Wednesday and last night we had the double-header of cricket and rounders. Other events such as the golf tournament for parents and pupils have been squeezed in too. We can look back on another successful year at Cranmore. There have been stunning results for Scholarship and CE exams, outstanding performances in the various sports as well as great things in music too – I was immensely proud to watch our pupils on stage in Tosca. We say farewell to a number of pupils today and several colleagues too. They have all been part of the Cranmore story. In particular, I know that many of you are sad to see Miss Kieran retire today. She has been a great servant to Cranmore and has been of enormous support to me personally. I wish her, and all who leave us today, every happiness and success in the future. I wish you and your family a most enjoyable summer holiday.

Michael Connolly

Planning Ahead! Dear Parents, Next Year, Cranmore will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary. We will be having a number of themed events during the course of the year involving our whole school community, both present and past. Staff across the school have been busy planning and discussing how their individual departments can contribute and every child will be involved. To start the year, we intend to have a 50th Anniversary mufti day on Friday 8th September when every child in the Junior and Senior Department is invited to come into school dressed in something yellow, orange or gold. As the new term tends to be frantic, I am writing to give you plenty of advance notice as I hope all of the children will have something of the appropriate colour to wear on the first Friday of the new school year! Wishing you all a great summer and thanking you in advance for your support. Kind regards Susan Walker Deputy Head

Dear Parents I cannot quite believe that this is my last message to the Chronicle! I have been bestowed with beautiful cards, messages and presents, you are all so very kind. I have had many wonderful surprises from your children. I was Flash Mobbed in assembly. I was also guest of honour at a magnificent Junior Tea Party and finally today, I was treated to a very special assembly that will live in my memory forever. These were carefully orchestrated, without my knowledge, so I am indebted to all the Junior Staff and to Emily Jefford who I know masterminded the secrets! I have so enjoyed my role as Head of the Junior Department. It has been made easier because of your ongoing support and understanding. Of course, for me, the best part of my job is having the privilege of caring for your beautiful children. I shall really miss Cranmore so much, particularly the warmth that this community gives so abundantly. I look forward to being invited back to visit and to see how your children have changed. I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday. Kindest regards Margaret Kieran

Official Opening of New Facility Last Thursday saw the grand opening of the new MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) at Cranmore. We welcomed Beccy Lewis, Surrey Storm development coach, who delivered netball sessions to the children alongside the PE department. The afternoon was rounded up with a friendly staff and parent netball match and refreshments. There was great excitement throughout the afternoon and lots of fun was had by all. We are very much looking forward to the use of this fantastic facility in the future. Miss Wilkinson Head of Girls’ Sport

A Right Royal Regatta! The rowing year always ends on a high for our rowing squad and their parents with our annual trip to Henley Royal Regatta, and this year was no exception. Fortunately, the forecast rain held off and the mild temperatures made our riverside picnic on Remenham Meadows a really memorable one. During the day we were able to watch past Cranmore oarsmen Alex Seel, William Tyrrell and Calum Gathercole racing for their schools and universities. The real highlight was to have the opportunity to tour the Stewards’ Enclosure and see the magnificent trophies, many of which were over 150 years old, as well as learn about the history of what is the most famous regatta in the world. The royal barge, Gloriana, was also moored by the enclosures this year and we were privileged to go aboard her – definitely built for show not speed! Mr Martin

Parents’ and Pupils’ Golf Tournament The parents’ and pupils’ annual Golf event took place on the Henderson Fields on Monday 3rd July. A great turnout from parents and even better weather ensured a terrific evening was had by all. 45 attended the event, which also coincided with some coaching for beginners by Phil Robson (The Drift Golf Club), for boys and girls from Cranmore. Thanks for all who came to support the event, see you again next year! Mr O’Brien Director of Sport
