Our new Sixth Form
Dear Parents I am delighted that another academic year has begun. I especially wish to offer a warm welcome to all the new pupils who have joined us and, of course, to new colleagues too. A considerable amount of maintenance was done during the Summer break which included a major refurbishment of our tennis courts. I offer my congratulations to the many pupils who achieved such great success in their Music exams: full details are in this edition. We have a busy schedule this term and it was a delight to see so many happy, smiling faces this morning, which bodes well for the weeks ahead. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

A Letter from Ms Schembri
Dear Parents I hope you had a lovely and restful summer break. I am very much looking forward to my new role as Assistant Head, working with both yourselves and your children. We have an exciting term planned with both study and plenty of activities. Just a gentle reminder of the end of day arrangements: Senior children who do not have a club or who do not go to late class can meet their parents/carers by the lower prep play area or the car park. At 4.20pm, a member of staff will take any remaining pupils from the car park back to late class (Senior library), where they can be collected. At 5pm pupils will need to be met by parents by the lower prep play area. At 5.05pm, the teacher on duty will accompany them to extended day care (Junior library), where they must be collected by parents before 5.30pm. This procedure has been put in place to ensure the safety of all our Senior pupils. With very best wishes Ms Schembri

Dear Parents, I am writing to thank you all very much for the really thoughtful and lovely gifts and cards you gave me when I left Cranmore at the end of the summer term. I was truly overwhelmed by your many kind words and good wishes for my retirement and I know fond memories of my years at Cranmore will stay with me for a very long time. It was a delight to work with you and your children over the years and I shall look forward to keeping up with news of Cranmore via the website. Although it seems strange not to be there at the start of term, life after Cranmore is already busy and I’m looking forward to exploring new avenues and taking up new challenges! Wishing you and your children a very good year. Very best wishes, Susan Walker

Summer Fun on the River Term starts early for our rowing squad with the annual Summer Rowing course during the last week of the holidays. This year we were fortunate in having superb weather and after swimming tests in the pool at the Excel Centre everyone was soon out in a variety of boats on the river. Progress was rapid and by Thursday everyone was ready for our expedition up the river and round the old river to Desborough Island for a picnic lunch and then the long row back to Walton. On Friday after the training session we had a mini fun regatta so everyone got a race as well. It was not all about the rowing: in the afternoons we found time to go to Aqualand in Thorpe for a session on the inflatables in the lake and also to take the kayaks down through the lock to Sunbury for an ice cream. Now we are all back at school, rowing is a sports option for pupils in the 4th , 5th and 6th forms on their games afternoons and all pupils from the 3rd form upwards are welcome to come and try rowing at Walton Rowing Club on a Saturday morning. Mr B Martin
