14th February 2020 Dear Parents The House Music Competition was a fantastic event and everyone was very impressed by the high standard of performances.
Congratulations to our swimmers who put on a good show at the IAPS qualifiers last weekend and also our rugby squads who secured the Dunckley Shield for Cranmore again. This has been a very busy week: Diocesan Inspection, Year 2 Evacuee Day, Year 4 Drama production and, last night, the thrilling Cranmore Live concert with VoCollective. Tomorrow we have large numbers heading off to see the Harlequins Match and I am really looking forward to this game. I wish you all a most restful break next week. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Feather boas, flapper girls, Inspector Spectre and a whole host of famous guests entertained us and kept us in suspense throughout. One of our pupils said, “That was one of the most terrifying experiences I’ve ever had, but the best feeling! I really enjoyed it!” Thank you to Mrs Hanson and the Year 4 children for all their hard work.

Sports News Sports Report The end of the Cranmore rugby season was marked by the annual Dunckley Shield event. The competition between the two schools, Cranmore and Donhead, began 25 years ago in 1995. Overall, Donhead are 11-10 up, despite Cranmore winning the last 8. Using the competition scoring system, Cranmore were 2-1 down going into the final Saturday, with 6 matches still to play across the U10 and U11 Year Groups. There were some very competitive matches and plenty of superb rugby on display, resulting in many results coming down to the wire. Cranmore ended up with 4 wins and a draw on the morning which meant that Cranmore was crowned the Dunckley Shield Winner, 2020. Well done to all involved! On the previously Wednesday, the U8s rugby teams were in action, with the opposition being Donhead again. 5 tag-rugby matches took place in glorious weather and it proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon for everyone.
Our U8 and U7 girls were in action on Friday afternoon, playing hockey against Rowan School. Fine weather helped the exciting matches to take place, allowing all involved to have a great time. Also on Friday, our Squash Squad were in action over at CLFS as part of a regular round of fixtures.
Members of our Swim Squad featured in the IAPS Qualifiers last Thursday, which was held at St Teresa’s. Superb swimming in both the individuals and relays have meant that, hopefully, there will be Cranmore swimmers featuring in the Finals at the London Aquatics Centre in June.
Finally, we wish the 250 people attending tomorrow's Harlequins match a fabulous time.
Paul Hodgson, Director of Sport

The theme this year was Hymns and all Houses excelled themselves in their performances. Our adjudicator, Mr Caister, Director of Music at St Teresa’s, had the difficult task of choosing the overall winner; he chose Radford House, with their very moving performance of ‘Eagle’s Wings’.
