Form One testing their balance in the Forest School high rope challenge
Dear Parents I am very grateful to the many parents who attended our Curriculum Evening. I firmly believe that we are moving in the right direction. Indeed, Amanda Spielman, the Chief Inspector for Ofsted has stated: "But we know that focusing too narrowly on test and exam results can often leave little time or energy for hard thinking about the curriculum, and in fact can sometimes end up making a casualty of it. I very much enjoyed the rugby on the Henderson Fields last weekend and I am looking forward to watching our teams in action tomorrow when we contest the Murray Cup at Rokeby. Yours sincerely

Sports Focus Our U8 rugby teams (all eight) played against Danes Hill and Shrewsbury House in a triangular, with matches being held both here at Cranmore and away at Shrewsbury House. 24 matches took place in total which made for an exciting afternoon of rugby. As always, the sports department are thankful of the work and support from the Form One academic staff, which allow these afternoons to take place. On Saturday, five matches took place across the U10, U12 and U13 age groups against Feltonfleet with Cranmore securing fours wins from five. Monday, was the U9s turn to represent Cranmore away at Danes Hill. The year group, which formed six sides, played with lots of determination and showcased a fantastic attitude which resulted in only one loss across the six matches. Tuesday, was Rokeby School's turn to face our U11s and this was also the start of The Murray Cup, a competition held annually between the two schools. Cranmore have got off to a great start with three wins out of four, leaving another 12 matches to go across all Senior School age groups. On Saturday our rowers are competing in the Weybridge Winter Head, the start of a busy period. Mr Martin, Mr Fish and Miss Moore have been working hard with the children to prepare them well for the upcoming events and we wish all our rowers the best of luck. This week, the U13s play at home against Downsend (U12s are playing away), the U9 A team are competing at the Aldro festival. Whilst the B to E teams represent Cranmore in the Murray Cup, the U10 A team are at the Shrewsbury House Festival. The Murray Cup continues during the week with the U10s B to E teams and on Saturday, it's the grand finale with the U13A, U12A, U10A and U9A playing away at Rokeby School (9.30am Kick off). The prestigious annual competitions that we have against chosen schools increases the interest and enjoyment for children, parents and staff. We know that every child will be trying their very best to endeavour that Cranmore retains the illustrious Murray Cup trophy. Mr P Hodgson, Director of Sport
