Photos from a fantastic Action Day on Thursday 18th October 2019 Dear Parents This page has a few images from the wonderful Action Day which was held yesterday. As ever, the range of talent on display was remarkable and I was pleased to see that many parents were able to come along and enjoy this fantastic event. Final preparations are being made for the annual CPA Fireworks Night, so please do make sure that you order your tickets soon. I shall be involved in an ISI inspection during part of the first week after half-term; it is always a real pleasure to visit another school and see it in operation. I feel sure our pupils are ready for the break. I wish you and your family a most enjoyable half-term holiday. Yours sincerely, Michael Connolly

Junior News 2RF are very proud of their amazing castles!
At Forest School on Monday, Year 2 created ‘Cranmore Castle’. The children had the option to choose from a range of activities: creating a crown and decorating it; making a sceptre; building a shelter/stable for the horses; and working in the royal kitchen.
Junior News 3CS had great fun learning about fractions using Smarties!
Year 3 enjoyed practising weighing at Forest School.
Junior News 3LD Class Assembly 3LD had a very special message to share in their assembly. They spoke about peace and what we can do to make the world a more peaceful place. They reminded the audience that many people live in war-torn countries, not knowing the meaning of peace.
The children reminded the audience that the white dove is a symbol of peace. It reminds people to live a life of love and harmony! The white dove also has a very special place in the Bible as we learnt in our Bible reading. The children spoke confidently and projected their voices clearly, demonstrating great maturity and confidence. They also sang beautifully, which helped make the assembly meaningful. Mrs DeAlmeida
Senior News The Cranmore Creativity Exhibition took place on Wednesday 9th October. Pupils were invited to share their performances of drama, music, art and/or dance with their parents.
Congratulations to Alec and Igor who came first and second in the 7NM class debate on ‘How was the world created?’.
Senior News Harvest Mass This week, we celebrated a most special Harvest Mass and saw a record number of Harvest offertory items being donated. Parents, pupils and staff have been so generous. All the items which have been collected will be distributed to the Leatherhead Start Hostel, Number 5 in Guildford, Cherry Trees and Lime Grove. The items will be hugely appreciated. Please remember to keep the vulnerable people in our area in your prayers. ‘For it is in giving that we receive.’ Saint Francis of Assisi Mr Jakubowski

Senior News School Council Visit to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey The School Council enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Houses of Parliament. After a tour, the pupils took part in a workshop which gave them a better understanding of how Parliament works. We also visited Westminster Abbey where we learnt about the links between the Abbey and Parliament. Mrs Spooner
Sports News Swimming Gala We hosted our first swimming gala of the term last Wednesday against Boxgrove school. 33 members of our swim squad competed in the event, which had a superb atmosphere thanks to the many parents and supporters in attendance. Thank you to the several swim squad members who were not competing, but did a superb job in helping to run the event. Finally, a big thank you to Sarah Calpin who organised and led the gala's logistics, which was her first one on her return to Cranmore. Football Football took place across all years against schools including: Downsend, Danes Hill, Rokeby, Feltonfleet and Kings House (please see results on the Sports Portal, via the Cranmore website). On Friday, two U8 sides competed at the KCJS tournament and both teams performed very well and represented Cranmore honourably. On Saturday, Cranmore hosted a superb morning of football with eight U10 matches being played. Over 110 parents and family members came to watch the spectacle and enjoy the fantastic refreshments that were served up by our Cranmore catering staff. Other Sporting News Also last week, there were many other sporting events: members of our cross country squad ran at the ESSA event in Guildford; our squash club celebrated 'World Squash Day'; our U9 netball sides played against Cranleigh; the golf squad competed at Cranleigh; and our U8 hockey sides gained some valuable experience in matches against Downsend. Finally, there was an enjoyable and very worthwhile training session with St Teresa's for our U8 netball players. It was great for the children to have a joint lesson in their games period, practising different skills, mixing up teams and gaining different coaching experiences. This joint lesson will take place every few weeks alternating between both school sites. Mr Hodgson
