14TH SEPTEMBER 2020

Message from the Headmaster It has been another successful and productive week at Cranmore. The weather certainly played a part in allowing for a very active week outdoors on the playing fields and even some outdoor academic lessons, both in the Lower and Upper Prep School. The reintroduction of hot lunches proved extremely popular with the pupils and many also enjoyed the opportunity to use the swimming pool again as it reopened for lessons. Thank you to parents for your continued support at drop-off and pick-up to ensure that the children make their way to and from school safely. Thank you to all those who joined us on Thursday for the online New School Year Liturgy; I appreciate the hard work of Mr Jakubowski and Father Stephen in preparing such a welcoming service. Mr Everitt

Year 6 take the Science Lab outside To learn about measuring matter and taking accurate volume and mass measurements, pupils headed into the grounds with their measuring cylinders and top pan balances. If their measurements were accurate and precise, pupils identified a relationship between volume and mass in water. We all enjoyed the sunshine too.

Year 3 investigated forces by experimenting with a selection of toys

The wide variety of activities in Nursery adds excitement to learning Our Nursery children this week have enjoyed playing outside, doing exercises indoors and having adventures based on the Stickman story at Forest School.

Reception and Year 1 enjoyed a creative first visit to Forest School Reception have explored the Forest School site, made pictures from sticks, leaves and flowers and made face sculptures using natural materials to link to our 'All About Me' topic. We have learnt how to stay safe in the Forest School area and we are learning to staying away from nettles!

Year 1 pupils develop their whittling skills

Pupils in Year 2 show their delight on returning to Forest School Year 2’s topic is Castles this term so we made candles for our castles by sawing wood, using a hand drill to make a hole and then finding a feather for the flame. We also explored, created dens and tested out the rope walk.

Sports Reminders Kit Reminder Please can all pupils from Year 2 upwards have their shin pads, boots and water bottle with them for their PE and Games lessons.

A message from our Chaplain A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew: Peter went up to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times.‘ The Gospel of the Lord Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ This week we are thinking about forgiveness. All of us make mistakes and get things wrong from time to time. We say things we wish we had not said and do things we later regret. Yet let us never forget that God's love is greater than our mistakes. Let us be quick to ask for forgiveness and quick to forgive those that hurt us. Let us start each day anew and work together to be a truly Christ-centred community.
