Mr Chapman presented ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ by Sir Arthur ConanDoyle. Sports Focus After

the success of The Murray Cup, rugby fixtures continued throughout last week. Cranmore U13 and U12 teams played King’s House School on Wednesday. On Thursday, our five U10 teams were unbeaten against King’s College Junior School and on Friday four of our U8 teams travelled to CLFS for tag rugby fixtures. Also on Friday afternoon our girls U8/9 hockey teams played against CLFS whilst on Saturday morning it was the turn of the U10s to play away against Downsend. The block fixture against Downsend continued on Tuesday with three U11 matches and convincing victories for the B and C Cranmore teams and a much closer contest in the A match. A special guest appearance from International referee JP Doyle officiating our U13 rugby match on Wednesday. It was a fantastic experience for the children and, as you would expect, the refereeing of the match was to very high standard. Cranmore hosted a fantastic swimming gala on Monday evening against King’s College Junior School. 48 boys and girls from the Cranmore swim squad competed in the event with the team including eight swimmers from each year group - Form One to Form Six. The well supported gala created a fantastic atmosphere which most certainly helped the swimmers achieve the many PBs that were recorded throughout the evening. The result of the gala was a comprehensive win for Cranmore, which adds to the very successful year for the Cranmore swim squad. Congratulations to all those swimmers involved. Safeguarding and Child Protection at Cranmore Children’s Mental Health Week: 4th – 8th February

Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week. The Week was set up by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. This year’s theme is Healthy: Inside and Out and everyone is being encouraged to think about how they look after their bodies and minds. What’s it all about? When we think about healthy living, we tend to focus on looking after our bodies for example through food, being active and getting enough sleep. However, in order to be healthy overall, it is important that we also look after our mental wellbeing. Our bodies and minds are actually very closely linked, so things that we do to improve our physical wellbeing can help our mental wellbeing. When we take steps to be Healthy: Inside and Out, it helps us to feel better in ourselves, focus on what we want to do and deal with difficult times. As parents and carers, you play a very important role in your child’s health. Here is some advice given by Place2Be on simple ways you can encourage your child to look after their body and mind: Talk to your child about what you do to look after your body and mind, from walking the dog to turning your phone off before going to bed. Sharing the steps you have taken to stay healthy can set a good example for them, but do not be afraid to admit it if you have struggled! It is important for children to keep trying, even when things are difficult. Praise your child and other family members for what they do to look after their body and mind, even if it is small. If your child sees healthy living in a positive light, they are more likely to carry on doing these things throughout life. Remind your child there is no such thing as a perfect body or mind and no one is perfectly healthy. Your child might be tempted to compare themselves to other children, especially on social media, but it is important to remember that everyone’s bodies and minds are different, which is something to celebrate. Do something regularly with your child to be Healthy: Inside and Out. Family life can be very busy and stressful at times. Cooking a meal, sitting down for a family dinner, or going for a walk together can be a great way to stay connected and have fun. Remember, if you are worried about your child, you can talk to your GP or someone here at Cranmore. Cranmore is fortunate to have a School Listener provided by the Valley Trust. If you would like for her to meet with your children, please contact Mrs Nicholson (Junior Department) or Ms Jessica Schembri (Senior Department) for further information.
