Message from the Headmaster The pupils have certainly excelled again this week starting with a superb assembly on Black History Month by 6MC that was accompanied by four of our Year 7 musicians. I was fortunate to be able to spend time discussing aquatic life with the Reception children during their story time session. Year 1 were creative making cards for grandparents and Years 2 and 3 enjoyed lessons at Forest School.
In our Friday assembly, I spoke with pupils about a challenging climb of Scafell Pike that I did with friends. I explained that we were so focused and determined to reach the summit that we very nearly missed the staggering views along the way. I reminded them that in our busy lives, particularly at weekends, we should pause, appreciate and enjoy what we have achieved throughout the week.

Black History Month Assembly Joseph N, Michael B, Finlay H and Ronan M (Year 7) played ‘Give me joy in my heart’ on Monday, as Form 6MC delivered a very thoughtful assembly on Black History Month, which is our theme for October. 6MC looked at how Britain has developed as a multicultural society and the role that some well-known and less well-known members of the black and ethnic minority communities have played in enriching the life of our country.

Engaging activities for Nursery at Forest School and in Science lessons At Forest School the children had conkers and threaded them onto soft willow. They popped the soft core from hazel ‘beads’ to thread and made conker and hazel necklaces. In Science the children examined the properties of plastic and compared them to wood. They sorted items into two containers, predicting to test if the items would float or sink. They have also enjoyed learning numbers in French this week.
A story for our Reception children read by Mr Everitt Children in Reception were thrilled with Mr Everitt’s visit and loved listening to the story of ‘Barry the Fish with Fingers’!
Year 1 have made beautiful cards for their grandparents Our Year 1 children have enjoyed getting messy this week all for a good cause: producing wonderful cards to show their appreciation for their grandparents.
Year 2 had another great outing to Forest School At Forest School this week, the Year 2 children explored the mud kitchen, as well as continuing to develop their Forest School skills using different tools.
Year 3 enjoyed their first trip of the term to Forest School Year 3 were delighted to experience the freedom and fresh air of Forest School this week.

Our recorder teacher, Mrs Daly, has spaces and has a fantastic approach to help young children start learning an instrument. The recorder is a very versatile instrument and pupils can easily transfer their skills to the bassoon, oboe, flute, clarinet and saxophone.

A message from our Chaplain A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Finally, a man from Samaria came along the road. The Jews did not like Samaritans. Everybody thought that the Samaritans would never help anybody. But this Samaritan was good. He saw the man on the road and he stopped to help. He put oil and wine on the man’s wounds. (Oil and wine were used for medicine in those times.) Then he lifted the man onto his donkey and took him to a nearby inn. He took care of the man all night to make sure he was going to be well. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Reflection This week we are focusing on the Parable of the Good Samaritan. This is one of Jesus' most famous parables. It reminds us not to judge others or ignore the suffering of those we meet on life's paths. If we feel hurt or afraid this week, let us remember that God will come and find us and help us.
