Dear Parents The CPA Fireworks Party was absolutely fantastic and I am very grateful to all those who played a part in putting on this marvellous social occasion. Earlier in the day there was great excitement when we won the Henkes Football Shield for the 7th year in a row. This is a great tribute to the quality of our football squads and, of course, our sports staff who coach them. Our musicians have enjoyed remarkable accolades in the Woking Festival this week which demonstrates the musical talent that we have at Cranmore. Regardless of the John Lewis advert, we know that Christmas is not too far away as we shall be enjoying the LP & MP Nativity next Thursday, I look forward to seeing many of you there for this celebration. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Dear Parents, The Junior Department was privileged to participate in the Remembrance Assembly on Friday, led by the older pupils. After the assembly every pupil planted a poppy on the field. I am sure you agree that the poppy field looked stunning and it was a poignant way for us all to participate in an Act of Remembrance. It was a pleasure to see many of you at our Junior Department Parents’ Consultation Evening yesterday and I look forward to seeing more parents on Tuesday at our second evening. I am looking forward to my first Christmas at Cranmore and this starts off next week with the Lower Prep and Middle Prep Nativity on Thursday 23rd November at 9.15am. Refreshments will be served from 8.30am in the auditorium. There are two seats available per child so please adhere to this, in order to fit everyone into the auditorium. We are providing a crèche for younger siblings, in the Junior Library. I look forward to seeing many of you at the performance. Kind Regards Mrs Fiona Nicholson Head of the Junior Department

In Bright Stars the children have continued to have lots of fun outside, despite the colder weather. They wrap up warmly, with hats and gloves and keep moving! Pre-Nursery children took out the mini-parachute on Thursday for their walk across the fields. They worked together as a team listening to Mrs Williams say, “One, two, three, up!” to make the colourful stars ‘fly’ up and discussed shapes and colours. Nursery children have this week been making waterproof dens and rope-swings over at Forest School with Mrs Woods. On our Monday science afternoons the children have been exploring wood and conducting experiments to find out more. On Friday we made collage poppies and held a minute’s silence as a sign of respect. They did really well, and listened out for the sound of the bugle playing ‘The Last Post’.

The Ones’ annual trip to Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium was as exciting and educational as ever. The children were keen to explore the exhibits and find out all about forces, light, electricity and many other scientific phenomena. “I thought it was amazing. My favourite activity was the parachute tube and I learnt that air can lift things up.” Jack Harris. “I loved the brain model where you could walk inside and hear the brain passing messages to the rest of the body.” Joe Evans. “ The planetarium show was so cool because we could see all the different planets and stars.” Ben Keeble. We returned with our brains full of fascinating facts from the day!

Anti-Bullying Week

To promote the start of Anti-Bullying week, on Monday 13th November pupils were treated to a visit from Sorren Bennick Productions. The performance reviewed the roles of the Bully, the Target, and the Bystander. It included solutions to bullying; taught pupils that everyone has the Power of One, the power to report and deal with bullying when they see it. Some lucky pupils were even given the chance to take part in the show!

The Henkes Shield

On Saturday 11 November, eight Cranmore teams travelled to Rokeby to compete in the annual Henkes Shield. Some fantastic football was displayed by all the teams involved despite the heavy rainfall. It was even more impressive to see over 200 students, staff and parents watch the end of the 1st XI match. Once all the points had been added up it was pleasing to hear that Cranmore had retained the Shield for the sixth year in a row. Mr O’Neill

The Uppers Invade Windsor Castle

I liked the Queen’s crown because the gems were so shiny. Isobel I really enjoyed being told how to train as a Knight. You’re a Page, then a Squire, then a Knight! George I enjoyed watching the Changing of the Guards. I really enjoyed looking round the castle. The furniture was beautiful. Harry
