22nd MARCH 2021

Message from the Headmaster Dear Parents, It has been an extraordinary term that has shown Cranmore at its very best in light of the many challenges we have faced. During the online period, the pupils showed remarkable diligence in their studies and great resilience, as we waited to return onsite. It was tremendous having everyone back at school over the last number of weeks and a reminder of how we should value our wonderful surroundings and appreciate spending time together as a Cranmore community. This week, the Year 7 pupils have been using a new Flip2 digital painting device which has brought much excitement to the art department. Next term, we will be running a competition to display the artistic talents of pupils using this engaging form of technology.

I would also like to mention the wonderful painting skills of the Year 2 pupils who spent some time painting daffodils. In music, we witnessed some impressive performances on the recorder and violin in Year 1 and 2 and looking further ahead, I am delighted that our choirs for pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 will begin again next term. The language department have been busy setting an Easter Challenge in Spanish and French and I know that pupils will also be focusing their attention on The Great Cranmore Bake Off during the break. I would like to wish you all a well-deserved rest over Easter and I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for an exciting summer term.

Mr Everitt

A Message from our Chaplain A reading from the Gospel of John Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a seed of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves me.”

The Gospel of the Lord Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

Prayer on Lent by Marco DL, 7JH

Lent Jesus often spoke in parables and sometimes what He said seemed difficult to understand. This week we are reminded by Jesus that we constantly need to be changed into the image of God. Lent of course is that sacrificial love or the unconditional love that is the greatest gift. Jesus is reminding us that when we give, we receive, and that when we serve, we find happiness. When we act not thinking of ourselves but of others, those acts take on their own life and grow.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all things, we pray for Your great mercy, that You will guide us towards You, for we cannot find our way without You. Guide us to do what You require of us, for we cannot do it alone. Make our minds strong to serve You as You would wish. Strengthen us against the temptations of Satan, knowing that Your Son was tempted in the desert, and remove from us all that is evil, shielding us against our enemies.

Teach us so that we may love You before all things with a pure heart and mind. For You are our Father, our help, and our hope. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

As we think about coming to the end of a busy term, take time to think about how you can serve others and how you can think of others.

Further resources here: May Christ be with you all over these Easter holidays. May I encourage you to spend time in prayer, to go to the Easter Masses in your local communities for Jesus is waiting for you.
