Dear Parents I was delighted to see so many of you at our e-safety presentation on Wednesday. This is a topic which has become increasingly important and it is no surprise that Andrew Halls, Headmaster of KCS Wimbledon, commented upon it in the Sunday Times. It is astonishing that between 2013 and 2015 more than 2000 children were reported for crimes linked to sexting. The statistics cited in another recent report are also quite shocking: 1 in 3 children have been a victim of cyber-bullying 1 in 13 children are so troubled by bullying that they engage in self-harm Social media sites have a minimum age of 13 but this is routinely breached by many under-age users We understand that many parents have given their children mobile phones, tablets, games consoles and other internet devices. However, it is vital that there is effective monitoring at home to ensure this technology is not used inappropriately. On a brighter note, I am looking forward to our traditional block fixture against Donhead School tomorrow when we contest the Dunckley Shield. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Senior Department House Music Competition Thursday 9 February Dear Parents Next week is the Cranmore Senior House Music Competition. This is an opportunity for all the children to come together with other members of their House, to have fun, to learn something new, to get to know each other a little better and to work as a team. Mr Harris has selected a very appropriate theme this year given that the Six Nations Rugby Championships are underway. Each House has been given one of the anthems to perform and everyone has been busy practising during their regular House meetings. An independent adjudicator has been invited; the trophy has been polished and the excitement mounts. Parents are welcome to attend the competition which starts at 3.00pm. Tea will be available before the fun begins! I look forward to seeing you next Thursday afternoon. Best wishes Susan Walker

Come and join our 3rd Water Sports Holiday in the South of France 8-15 July, 2017

Sun, sand, sea, swimming and sailing. It’s all there - and more! On 8 July we will head off to Rockley’s Azu Rivage campsite beside the warm shallow waters of the lake at Soustons. Our week will be action packed with sailing in pico dinghies and dart catamarans, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking. After a day on the water, what could be better than relaxing in the pool and enjoying the slide before our evening programme. When we are not on the water we will cycle through the woods to a local village for an ice cream, head to the beach for a bit of football or head to the Dune de Pyla and climb Europe’s largest sand dune. We stay in comfortable tents (with all mod cons!) in a secure area of the site. A particular feature of the holiday is the quality of the meals which take full advantage of the local produce. The holiday is open to pupils in the 3rd, 4th 5th and 6th Form and the fully inclusive price is £725. Please contact Mr Martin for further details.
