Mrs Robinson from our catering team has created another spectacular display!

Reminder to Parents! Supermerits, Golden Awards, Cups and Marvellous Merits are now displayed on the parents’ section of the website.

Dear Parents I very much enjoyed the Bright Stars Sing-a-Long, the children performed with great confidence which is remarkable given their tender years. The UP & Form 1 Christmas Nativity was also excellent and we were treated to some outstanding singing and acting. The costumes were super too. Yesterday we had great fun with our charitable event which was Christmas Jumper Day to include our traditional Christmas lunch. As ever, we are grateful to our catering team for all their hard work. This edition has photos of the first ever Cranmore Netball Match, another milestone. Next week we say farewell to Mr Hudson from the Sports Department as he leaves to take up his new role at KCS, Wimbledon. We wish him every happiness in his future career. There was very strong interest in the vacancy for Assistant Head. I am delighted that Miss Schembri will be taking up this role next September. I look forward to seeing many of you at our Carol Service on Tuesday. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

This week we have had the pleasure of the Bright Stars Christmas Sparkle Sing-a-long on Tuesday, followed by the UP and Form 1 performance of ‘A Way in a Manger’ on Wednesday. The nursery children managed to learn a tremendous amount of words for all the songs which they sang so beautifully and they looked so colourful in their Christmas costumes. UP and Form 1 performed brilliantly with some excellent acting skills and they shared the real message of Christmas with us all. At both of these performances the children all sang enthusiastically giving us a wonderful lead into the Christmas period; I am very proud of all the children. The Junior Chamber Choir have recently sung at two services in the community and on Tuesday they will be singing at the Carol Service which will be a wonderful occasion before the end of term is upon us. Egyptian theme to the Rowing Club Christmas Party! We started our party as always at the Spectrum for the traditional 10 pin bowling competition. There was no doubting Arjun Kang is our champion bowler, coming in well ahead of the rest of us. It was then back to our clubhouse for party games, a pizza tea and lots of seasonal food generously provided by the parents. This was followed by the highlight of the party, the mummy wrapping competition. Clearly the smaller the mummy the easier to wrap (assuming they can keep still!) All the teams did a superb job of wrapping and decorating the faces of their mummies.

A First for Cranmore! History was made on Thursday 30th November as the U8s travelled to Cranleigh for Cranmore’s first ever Netball match. The teams played extremely well and were a credit to the school. They all showed brilliant sportsmanship and determination, and most of all had fun playing despite the freezing temperatures! We are very much looking forward to the future of Netball at Cranmore after such a brilliant start. Miss Wilkinson

Library news Parents’ Reading Group Some of you may not know that we have a parents’ reading group which meets 2 or 3 times a term. We are always keen to meet new members so why not come along and give us a try? We read a very wide variety of books including fiction, non-fiction and biography, and have a lot of fun discussing them. We meet in the mornings over coffee, because afternoon pick-up times vary so much, and it seems to work well. Occasionally we have an evening meeting when we go out for a curry or meet to watch a DVD of a book we have read. Our next meeting is on Monday 15th January at 8.30, over tea and coffee in the Senior Library. We have chosen a light-hearted book for the Christmas holidays - The Hive by Gill Hornby: The story takes us through one year in the life of an Anglican primary school, deep in the most bourgeois Boden country. First day back, the new headmaster explains that government cuts have kyboshed his plans for a new library, and so the elite St Ambrose Fundraising Committee is born. The calendar commences with a Lunch Ladder: "one person has a lunch, charges £15 a head, and those who attend have a lunch in turn and so on". It's followed by the Lakeside Summer Ball, which happens in December. The Gourmet Gamble. The Car Boot Sale. The Quiz. Who will the queen Bea include in today's group text for post-dropoff jogging, Pilates, Nordic walking? Who will emerge from the playground power struggles as the new top mum?

Awesome Book Awards The readers’ panel for the Awesome Book Awards has made a great start – they are very enthusiastic readers!
