Dear Parents I hope you and your family had an enjoyable summer holiday. I am delighted to welcome many new pupils and staff to Cranmore this term. I am sure they will settle into school life here very quickly. The car park project has been an obvious talking point and we are sure that everyone will benefit from this new layout. Much has been done behind the scenes too, including a major refurbishment of the boys’ changing facilities and upgrading classrooms as well as creating additional lavatories for the girls. The calendar shows that we have a busy programme of activities this term and I do look forward to seeing you at the various events. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Dear Parents, I am thrilled in this new academic year to be joining Cranmore School as Head of the Junior Department. It has been a wonderful week, welcoming the children into their new classes. We have had many new starters in Bright Stars and we will continue to welcome new children in the coming weeks. Lower Prep have settled in very quickly and I am very impressed with how confident and independent they are at this early stage. Similarly our new starters in Middle Prep, Upper Prep and Form One are settling in quickly. Thank you for ensuring your children arrive at school in the correct uniform and looking smart. At Cranmore we have very high expectations and we expect all children to wear their uniform with pride. Saying that, it has been wonderful today to see all the children dressed in gold, orange and yellow as we celebrate Cranmore’s 50th Anniversary. It has been a pleasure to meet so many of you at drop off and pick up and also at the Headmaster’s Information Meetings and I am sure you now feel better informed about what is planned in the year ahead. Thank you for making me so welcome in my first week at Cranmore and I am looking forward to working in partnership with you to ensure your children are happy, successful and fulfilled in all that they do. Nothing is half so much fun as simply messing about in boats! That’s what Toad said to Ratty in ‘Wind in the Willows’ and all the families who joined us on the Rockley watersports holiday, camping in the South of France, would certainly agree! We were staying on the shores of Lake Soustons in South West France, a large shallow and warm lake where we learnt to windsurf and sail a variety of dinghies and catamarans, as well as trying kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. When we tired of boating we could cycle through the woods to the local ice cream shop or just relax by the pool – or in the case of the younger members of the party relax on the water slide! With very comfortable tents and all meals being taken together outside this really was glamping. Mr B Martin
