Dear Parents Our ski squad had a very successful trip to Italy last weekend and, unlike the UK, they were grateful to have plenty of snow. That stated, our Nursery children had a wonderful time playing in the snow across the road in our Forest School. Once again, we produced several very good performances in the Godalming Festival this week which reflects the talent and dedication of our pupils. Our Cross-Country squad enjoyed the competition at Worth School and our Hockey players had a great time at Wellington College. Pupils in 6D and 6M enjoyed their very special French breakfast in school this week. Our Nursery pupils had a special celebration for Mothers’ Day: don’t forget it is this Sunday. We are looking forward to hosting the Surrey Rugby Festival again and we expect large crowds here tomorrow for what is sure to be a tremendous celebration of sport. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Music News
Godalming Music Festival I must applaud the efforts of the Junior and Senior Chamber Choirs and C# at this year’s Godalming Festival. All three choirs performed brilliantly, despite the fact that they were without their conductor and pianist Miss Fourie, who unfortunately was unwell on the day of the performance. The Junior Chamber Choir was awarded 3rd place with a score of 84% and C# were winners of their class with 82%. The adjudicator was full of praise for all three choirs, but in particular for the Senior Chamber Choir, who not only won their class with 88% and a Distinction, but were awarded the Godalming Operatic Cup for best performance in Class SC06 & SC07and the Darnton Cup for most promising performance. Our Snowy News! The children had a wonderful snowy week here at Nursery. Children went to Forest School which was magically transformed into a Winter Wonderland. They enjoyed making snow-angels, making footprints in the snow, tasting the snow, digging and sliding down the slopes. Our Mother’s Day event was on Thursday. The children enjoyed making special surprises and singing to their Mummies, as well as showing them all their art-work on the display boards. The countdown continues with our eggs. Now we have just 6 days to wait until we hear the cheeps inside the eggs indicating it is almost hatching time. We hope to be able to report egg-citing news next week!

Form 6 D and 6M enjoyed their French breakfast this week and wrote about it in their own words: Nous avons mangé des croissants fraichement sortis du four, tout en parlant français, même si quelques-uns d’entre nous parlent le français comme une vache espagnole ! Nous avons appris à faire des tartines avec du beurre et de la confiture de fraises. Nous les avons ensuite trempées dans notre bol de chocolat chaud pour les déguster. Quel régal !

Cross Country at Worth School This week the Cranmore Cross Country team travelled to Worth School to compete in their annual race. Having been unable to run at Danes Hill, owing to the inclement weather, everyone was raring to go! The U11 team won this event last year and were determined to defend their title. Charlie W, Toby R, Jack B and Freddie A took 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place respectively and Louis S also made the top ten. Dylan F, Max L, Cameron G and James W also put in fine performances and it was enough to see us retain the trophy. The U13 team faced an even tougher and longer course, but were still able to secure a number of places in the top twenty. Milo R took individual bronze and was closely followed home by Morgan C, Thomas A and Samuel K. Mr Heaver

Busy days in MM! Pupils in MM have been making clay models of reptiles which they had studied in Science, but first they went to Forest School to look for natural materials to use on their models. They competed to see who could stack the slates in the tallest pile at Forest School. The children estimated and compared the heights, reinforcing their Maths vocabulary and skills.

Training for Ghent International Regatta After the snow and cold of last week the rowing squad were out training hard in the double sculls for Ghent International Regatta in Belgium over Easter. With very little wind, mild temperatures and even a bit of sun, conditions were perfect to try out different crew combinations. Having spent the winter training in big boats with crews of 4 or 8 scullers it was wonderful to see everyone had not forgotten how to balance small boats.
