Dear Parents This final edition contains some marvellous photos of recent events. In particular, I wish to commend everyone involved with the production of Joseph, especially Mrs Hanson who masterminded this ambitious project. We have several pupils and colleagues leaving Cranmore and we hope they will take with them many fond memories of their time with us. Naturally, I am very sorry that Mrs Walker is amongst those leavers but I shall always be very grateful for the unswerving support she has given me throughout my tenure. I wish you and your family a most enjoyable Summer holiday and apparently, if all goes well, Football’s coming home……. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Children from Form One and Three at the First Holy Communion last week. A Message from Mrs Walker Dear Parents, As we approach the final day of the school year I would like to thank you all for the many lovely messages I have received wishing me well in my retirement. It has been a real privilege to be a part of our wonderful Cranmore Community for nearly 25 years and to get to know so many parents and their children. I shall miss you all and particularly your brilliantly talented, kind children. I wish Mr Everitt and Miss Schembri every success as they take on their new roles as Deputy and Assistant Head. Thank you again and as I have said to the children I shall be keeping up with the website and Chronicle to hear the latest News as Cranmore speeds towards its 60th Anniversary! Wishing you all a great summer break. Very Best Wishes, Susan Walker

First Holy Communion Mass Ten children from Form One and two children from the Third Form received their First Holy Communion recently. We were extremely fortunate to have Father John come to celebrate the occasion with a special Mass last Thursday. The children celebrating having taken their First Holy Communion were N Weekes, L Santoni , M Macias, T Macias, C Watkins, N Cobb, T Aczel, A McDougall, L Meneghin, O Langton, X Taylor and K Mack . It was a lovely, intimate service and the children delivered the readings and prayers beautifully. They were presented with a small lapel pin as a keepsake from the school and there was a special cake to mark the occasion.

Go, go, go Joseph! Congratulations to al the cast and crew for their exciting and energetic production with wonderful singing!

Members of Form One made their last visit to Forest School last week and they also had a great experience when they went to the Senior Science lab and carried out some experiments with Mr Minikin. The children really enjoyed it and it definitely helped to ease the transition into Form 2.

The French Exchange in Lyons On 24 June 8 of us met Mr Martin to fly to Lyon for the French exchange visit to Lycee Ombrosa in France. All our French hosts were at the airport to meet us in the traditional French way – kissing on both cheeks! On Monday we went into school - although most of the lessons were in French all the teachers spoke English and helped us. As it was the last week of term there was not much homework so after school we enjoyed ourselves with our hosts. At the weekend our hosts took us to visit local sights and they made us very welcome. We really appreciated the chance to live with a French family, enjoy French food and learn to use French. We hope to visit our friends in France again and invite them over here. If you get the chance to go on an exchange, take it! It’s great fun and a wonderful way to learn the language and culture of another country.

Thomas Dowson and Joshua Clapp

Cranmore Young Musician of the Year The 2018 Grand Final of the Young Musician reminded us just how talented our young musicians are here at Cranmore. Adjudicated by ABRSM examiner, Jennie-Helen Moston, the standard of performance from the five finalists was simply sensational. However, there had to be a winner and after much deliberation, Killian Hess (4F) was awarded 1st Place, The Bell Cup and title of Cranmore Young Musician of the Year. My congratulations to the other finalists: Charlie Barklam (cello), Thomas McLean (trumpet), Adrian Groenewald (voice) and Freddie Barklam (piano), who gave such accomplished performances themselves. My thanks also to the Wind Band and our two excellent young organists, Charlie Barklam and Thomas Mellstrom. Mr Harris

. Rowers cool off in the river! With temperatures approaching 30 degrees, it really was too hot to row, so for our last training session we put all the kayaks in the river. Initially a water fight seemed to keep everyone cool but it was not long before someone gave the order to abandon ship and then everyone was swimming around and enjoying a fun session on the river.

Anyone for Tennis? On Thursday 5th July the 6th form visited Wimbledon to watch the tennis. They were fortunate to watch Novak Djokovic, Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro. Some of the group were lucky enough to meet Novak Djokovic and ask for a signature. A great day out!

Ballet & Boogie Dance Come and See Pupils who participate in Boogie Dance and Ballet clubs enjoyed performing the dances and skills they have learnt this term to their friends and family. There was lots of fun in the Boogie Dance performance which was based on ‘The Greatest Showman’. In the Ballet performance, the girls showed their skills and techniques beautifully and it was so impressive to see how much they have improved over the year. A big well done to all of those pupils involved! Miss Wilkinson
