Dear Parents Action Day was another great success and this edition contains a few photos of this superb event. We have enjoyed a busy programme this week including a few educational visits too. Of particular note, our School Council had a fantastic day at the Houses of Parliament yesterday. There have been several sports fixtures this week with some outstanding results but we are especially looking forward to our traditional block fixture for the Henkes Shield which will be on Saturday morning. Tickets are still available for our Cranmore Live concert next Thursday. I would encourage you to join us as the standard of music is always remarkably high. Dear Parents Just the day before the half term break we celebrated our Harvest Mass. It was a real celebration and thanksgiving for the Harvest. We welcomed Father John to celebrate Mass for us. A number of children were directly involved with the readings and the music, making it a very special Mass to conclude our first half term of the school year. All the children in the Senior Department were asked to bring in various items for the Number 5 Homeless shelter in Guildford and the LeatherHEAD Start hostel. The response was incredible and we had a wonderful display of food, cleaning and toiletry items which have now been distributed to the two shelters by our helpful team of parents, to whom we are extremely grateful. Thank you all for your continued generosity in supporting these two local organisations. We recently welcomed a speaker from the Leatherhead shelter. She told us just how grateful they are to receive your generous donations and that they really do make a difference to local people in our communities, who often through no fault of their own find themselves in desperate need. Thanks also to Mr Jakubowski for his tireless work in preparing our Liturgical celebrations. Best wishes, Susan Walker Deputy Head

Bright Stars News Bright Stars have been thinking about Harvest and we made some lovely paintings using different fruit and vegetables. We brought lots of lovely food, soaps and flowers in to give to the elderly people who live nearby. We read the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ and acted it out together. We all pretended to try and pull the huge turnip out of the ground!

Action Day 2016 From magicians to musicians and actors to comedians, this year’s Action Day had it all. It really was a fun-filled day for all involved and it was wonderful to admire just how hard the pupils had worked to perfect their act. Now we begin the process of collecting the funds raised through sponsorship and I would be grateful if these monies could be handed in to Form teachers by Monday 7th November. One of Mr Walker’s delicious chocolate cakes awaits the class who raise the most. Mr Harris Director of Music

Cranmore Book Fair

A very big THANK YOU to all the pupils and parents who supported the Book Fair in October. The Senior Librarians were on hand to help children to find suitable books and we were kept very busy throughout the week. The total spent was an amazing £2,515.64, which leaves us with £1,449 commission to spend on books for the school. The Junior classes have already added to their classroom collections and we will be able to choose many more books for the classrooms and libraries. It’s a double winner as it leads to great excitement about reading throughout the school – so THANK YOU to all!

Mrs Trumble

Form 3 Warner Bros. Studio Visit Last half term, Form 3 enjoyed a visit to 'The Making of Harry Potter' at Warner Bros Studios. The visit started with a workshop where they had to use their imagination to make up a story line using actual props from the films. This was followed by a tour of the studios where we saw some of the sets and learnt the techniques used to create some of the special effects. We thought the triple decker bus would be a fun way to get to school! Mr Heaver Form 3 Co-ordinator
