6 SEPTEMBER 2021

Message from the Headmaster It was fantastic to welcome pupils and parents back to Cranmore this week for the beginning of the new academic year. The weather certainly played a part in such a successful start to the term and I would like to thank everyone who attended the Headmaster’s Reception Evenings. It was wonderful to see you all in person and I hope you found the information from your class teachers and Heads of Year helpful. During our first assembly, we highlighted the importance of welcoming new families and staff into our Cranmore Community, I hope you have enjoyed your first week at school. In making my way around the school, I was delighted to see so many smiling faces in the classrooms, in the playground and on playing fields. We are encouraging pupils back into a positive routine and ensuring they had lots of fun in the process! Thank you to parents for your support in the car park, at drop off and pick up, it is essential to ensure that the children make their way safely on the footpaths to and from school. Have a wonderful weekend. Mr Everitt

It was wonderful to have the pupils back in the Auditorium for assemblies this week.

A busy first week in Lower Prep.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know our new Reception classes this week. We have enjoyed learning all about each other’s families and each made our own family tree. We have also begun learning how to say and write different sounds. The children really loved making letter shapes in the sand. Mrs Prothero and Mrs Green, Reception Year 2 loved learning about the first castles and worked in groups to create motte and bailey castles outside using natural resources. Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Stefano, Year 2

Year 3 begin their new Science topic. Pupils in Year 3 have made a great start to the new academic year and particularly enjoyed investigating forces in Science this week. Ms Sinclair and Miss Freeman, Year 3

Upper Prep pupils are very happy to be back at school, catching up with old friends and making new friendships.

A busy week in our Cranmore Nursery.

In Pre-Nursery this week, the children have enjoyed practising their counting and decorating their initial letters. The children in Nursery participated in their first ballet session. Some of the children had great fun experimenting with different instruments to create different sounds.

We have taken advantage of the beautiful weather and the children have delighted in having their mid-morning snack in our garden. Ms Luke, Head of Nursery

A message from our Chaplaincy Team Chaplaincy Message: New Beginnings A Reading from Book of Genesis Then on the sixth day God said, “Let the earth be filled with animals. And let each produce more of its own kind. Let there be tame animals and small crawling animals and wild animals. And let each produce more of its kind.” And it happened. So God made the wild animals, the tame animals and all the small crawling animals to produce more of their own kind. God saw that this was good. Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image and likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky. Let them rule over the tame animals, over all the earth and over all the small crawling animals on the earth.

The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God

Reflection In the story of Creation that we hear this week we are reminded that God loves a new beginning, that He made us and He does not make mistakes. The story in Genesis reminds us that Creation and people are good; all is sacred. As we start our new year may we look positively at the many adventures ahead and ensure we look after each other this year for we are all made in His Sacred Image.
