The Cranmore Chronicle Read on for Dear Parents After the long Summer holiday, it is great to see that Cranmore is in full swing again for another exciting academic year. I wish to extend a particularly warm welcome to those who have just joined our school community, new families and new colleagues. I am very grateful to the many staff who were involved in organising various activities for the children during the Summer break. A great deal has been done to the school’s infrastructure under the direction of our Bursar. The finishing touches are being made to the Bright Stars Nursery outdoor facilities which look stunning. Changing rooms and lavatories have been upgraded in various parts of the school too. Additional Smart Screens have been installed in the Science labs and in Form 1. This completes Phase 2 of our ongoing project to provide ‘state of the art’ interactive screens in all rooms.

We have also completed Phase 1 of the Car Park project with the creation of additional space. However, the more extensive enhancements are scheduled to take place during the next Summer holiday. I look forward to seeing you at various events during the term. Music News Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

Our new school website was launched during the summer holidays. The design is modern, fresh & creative using a flat colour palette of burgundy/gold to complement our other marketing materials along with a modern use of white space. The site is fully responsive and therefore will adapt well to whichever device is being used. VLE & Sports portals are accessed easily from the top of the home page alongside the parents’ area (where you will find documents, photos, calendar etc.), and our busy social media feeds are fed directly to the home page too. Do visit the site to see all the changes for yourself. www.cranmoreprep.co.uk

Cranmore sets sail for the South of France No sooner had term ended than we were off to Rockley’s Azu Lac in the south west of France. There was certainly plenty to do; our experienced sailors enjoyed the challenge of the fast Dart catamarans and those new to the sport tried the Pico dinghies on the warm shallow waters of the lake. Windsurfing was new to almost everyone and proved a great hit in spite of most of us spending more time in the water than on the board! Although most of our time was spent on or around the lake or by the pool with its popular slide, we also found time to go trail biking through the woods to Soustons for an ice cream. A real highlight was going to Dune de Pyla (Europe’s largest sand dune) and climbing it before running down. Next year, not only are we planning another school trip, but also a Cranmore family holiday to the region in August after the schools’ trips have ended – why don’t you join us?
Mr Martin

Music News Taster Sessions There will be two instrumental taster sessions on Monday 12th September at 8am. One is for those children who may be interested in starting a brass instrument and the second for those interested in the guitar. Each session will be run by the teacher of that instrument. Parents are very welcome to attend and should sign in at the school office before entering the music building. Harry Potter Live! Harry Potter™ will make a magical Royal Albert Hall debut next year with a sensational live orchestral screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone™. This breath-taking show will see the movie screened in high definition and in full on a 40-foot screen, as John Williams’ immortal score is played live on stage by a world-class orchestra and chorus. There will be three performances of this show in mid-May and I am sure that each performance will sell out very quickly, so if you are interested in taking your children, act now! The screening is rated PG.
Instrumental Tuition The music instrumental staff currently have room in their timetables for any children who may wish to start lessons on any of the following instruments: Trumpet/Trombone/French Horn Oboe Bassoon If interested, please contact Mr Harris for further information.
