SIXTH FORM NEWS

Hi all,

I hope you have had a lovely week and welcome to halfterm!

This week marked the final week for the current Sixth Form Prefect Team before welcoming the new group. The Head Girl Team opened up the pre-loved shop, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as a final fundraising event for Toilet Twinning. We sold t-shirts, dresses, trousers, coats, bags and books. Thank you for all your donations and for all your purchases this week!

The Prefect Team also organised a thank you tea party for the kitchen staff. We each brought in a baked good and gathered in the Boardroom to celebrate.

On Friday, the new Prefect Team and Head Girl Team were announced. Congratulations to all those who have been appointed roles, especially the new Deputy Head Girls Tanvita K, and Mo S and the new Head Girl, Alice G.

BOARDING

We wish all of you the best of luck and we know you are going to be amazing.

On behalf of the Head Girl Team, thank you to all the prefects for all their hard work this past year and thank you to the entire school community for your constant support.

Have a lovely half-term, Amelia S-M (Deputy Head Girl)

On Saturday the boarders took a trip into Guildford to try some yummy food and shopping around for gifts to take home to their families in half term. Although the day was a bit dreary the boarders did not let it dampen their spirits.

As the half term break creeps closer the boarders have been participating in a variety of activities. These include regular pilates, trips to Dorking for some delicious Kokoro, weekend swims in the pool and indulging in some baking.

YEAR 9 EXPLORE INTERNET SAFETY DAY 2025

On Internet Safety Day 2025, all Year 9 students gathered in the Sixth Form Lecture Theatre to learn about this year’s theme: fraud. The session was led by Mr Chandler, Head of Computer Science, who delivered an engaging lecture about the various types of online fraud and how to stay protected in an increasingly digital world.

During the talk, girls discovered surprising facts about cybercrime, including that it now generates more money for criminals than illegal drug trafficking. They also learned how phishing scams work, with emails that impersonate legitimate organisations to steal sensitive information. Mr Chandler provided practical tips to help pupils spot fraudulent emails, such as checking for unusual email addresses, generic greetings, and urgent requests for personal information.

After the lecture, the girls put their new knowledge to the test with a practical activity identifying phishing emails. The session concluded with a fun and competitive group quiz, where teams answered questions on internet safety while strategically “stealing gold” from one another to boost their scores. The atmosphere was lively, with girls enthusiastically applying their learning to win.

Congratulations to the top three pupils, who received Haribo sweets as prizes for their efforts! The event was a fantastic reminder of the importance of staying vigilant online. As technology evolves, so do the tactics used by fraudsters – and Year 9 have now gained some essential tools to navigate the internet more safely and confidently.

Happy Half Term Break

Visit our website www.stteresas.com/equestrian

Or find us on Facebook “St Teresa’s Equestrian”

This first half of the term seems to have gone by in a flash. The team at STE have been very impressed with how resilient and enthusiastic the girls have remained throughout some very dark, cold nights at the stables. Everyone has realised the necessity of a good pair of gloves! We’re looking forward to the next half term as we move into longer and (hopefully) more clement weather.

We wish you all a restful and restorative half term break.

Bambi

We have all been excited by the arrival of a new little pony called Bambi, who is on trial with us from a local owner. Bambi is currently in the ‘isolation’ stables to ensure that she is free from any contagious diseases before she is brought up to the main stables. This is an important process at any stables as there are some very nasty diseases such as Strangles, which can be highly infectious to other horses.

Easter Holiday Activities

Our half term holiday activities are now fully booked but we have lots of opportunities available in the three week Easter break. In response to requests, we have increased the number of 45minute private lessons that are available during this period.

Early Bird Discount

If you book any Pony Mornings, Camps or Private lessons before the end of February, you will receive a 10% discount. Please use the code EASTER25 when booking.

Bulk booking discount

If you would like to book a series of three 45-minute or three 30-minute private lessons, we are offering a discount of 10% for the Easter holidays.

Please visit EcPro to see what is available.

NSEA NEWS

Good luck to our 2 teams and individual riders competing at the NSEA County and National Dressage qualifiers at Parwood Equestrian Centre this Saturday.

Bible Reading

A Reading from the Gospel of Luke

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,“Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered,“Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

Reflection

Jesus calls the disciples. He calls them to put out into the deep. This is a great moment where reason meets with Revelation. It seems unreasonable for Simon Peter to start fishing again. They have fished all night and caught nothing. It is time to leave it for now.And yet Jesus’ words and commandments bring life and hope. They sustain us and make the impossible, possible. Put out into the deep.

Prayer

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.

To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
