SIXTH FORM NEWS We are back at St Teresa’s for 2022, we hope that everyone had a restful Christmas and Happy New Year. As our Sixth Form Student Leadership Team come to their last half term in office we start to look towards our Year 12’s who will have the opportunity to apply for these roles of responsibilities before the hand-over after February half term. The Year 12 girls had their launch assembly on Thursday with the current head girl team present to answer any questions about the process or queries they may have. We wish the best of luck to all applicants and are here to support them and answer any questions that they have along the way! During PSHCE this week, the Sixth Form experienced an ‘Ace your Exams’ talk with Be from Elevate Education where we focused on the importance of preparation and the best way to achieve the best possible outcome in the exams in the summer months. Throughout the talk we started looking at the biggest mistakes in exam preparation, the importance of teacher advice and using practice papers towards the end of preparation time. The talk was informative and engaging with everyone being able to take away informative tips before the mocks and A Levels for Year 13 and the summer exams for Year 12. Good luck to the Year 11’s sitting mock examinations next week and I hope everyone has a great weekend Imogen L: Deputy Head Girl On Wednesday, some of the Year 13’s helped out with the external Year 6’s entrance examinations. It was lovely to see the future faces of the school. We helped sign the girls in and showed them around. We wish all the girls the best of luck. Hannah K: Head Girl

Welcome back! We’ve had a very variable winter with mild weather one minute and freezing cold the next! But all the ponies are rested and raring to start the new term and new year. Please do make sure that all riders pack appropriate coats and waterproofs. The temperature has dropped again and it is really bitter up here in the evenings!
Pony Update We are making the heart-breaking decision to retire Tango from the riding school and are therefore looking for a loan home for him.
We are searching for an adult only home who can keep him in light work having fun in a schooling and hacking home. If you, or someone you know, would like to take on our amazing ginger pony, or would like more information, then please email us at equestrian@st-teresas.com

NSEA Competition Reports We’re looking forward to the next few months of NSEA and BSJA Just for Schools Competitions!
This Week This week, we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany, remembering the visit of the Magi who travelled a great distance to visit Jesus, the new-born King of the Jews. During our reflection we focused particularly on the character of the Magi. The Magi were open-minded. As the scientist of their day, they valued the rational enquiry that resulted in their great journey of discovery. We too are encouraged to recognise that intellectual endeavour is much more likely to lead us to God rather than away from Him. The Magi followed the star. They recognised the signs in their lives that led them forward on their journey. We too are encouraged to recognise the signs of God’s presence in our lives and to follow faithfully. The Magi were prepared to be surprised. This didn’t go to plan. Their trip to Herod was a blind alley that put them in harm’s way. Their trip took an unexpected turn before they reached their goal. We too are encouraged to recognise that those times when surprises - and even disappointments - come, this may just be the opportunity we need to bring us to something better than we could ever imagine. The Magi were humble. Despite their status, they knelt down before the child Jesus. We too are encouraged to be humble, to set aside our egos and to recognise the awe of being in God’s presence. The Magi worshipped Jesus. The Magi knew that the only possible response to standing before the Lord of all the universe was to bow down and worship Him. We too are encouraged to reflect on what it is that we value above all else. Everyone worships something - if not God, then we usually fall prey to the worship of money, power, status, a false sense of what is beautiful, precious or sacred. With the Magi we are encouraged to recognise the presence of God, right before us, in our lives, and to bow down and worship Him.
