SIXTH FORM NEWS
Hi all,
I hope your week has been good. In the Sixth Form we have been busy with exams and revision.
On Monday, Year 12 had a careers talk about writing CVs. We were given tips and tricks on the best method to write an effective CV: being organised, professional, direct and researching specifically for the job.
This week our Sixth Form Events Committee selected their two new members for the remaining, and coming, academic year. We are so excited to welcome Jess M and Ellie H into the committee! Our first meeting was a great success, and the planning of our next event is well underway.

On Friday, the rounders match organised by the Head Girl Team to raise money for Toilet Twinning took place. It was a great match with much excitement, and we raised lots of funds for a great cause. Well done to the winning team and thank you to everyone who got involved and baked treats to be sold.

BOARDING NEWS
The boarding house remains lively and filed with laughter and chatter. Our afternoons have been spent soaking up the lovely summer weather, taking walks around our green campus, playing tennis matches and, visiting the horses at the equestrian centre. Evenings have also been spent putting our knowledge and vocabulary to the test, choosing games like Uno and Bananagrams to enjoy playful competitiveness and end our evenings on a high.
On Saturday, our boarding pupils enjoyed a delicious lunch and outing together with friends and boarding staff in Cobham, with choices a plenty!
As we now move towards the half-term break, we hope everyone takes this time to relax and recharge. Have a happy and safe half term!
REIGATE AND REDHILL MUSIC FESTIVAL SUCCESS
Alana E and Ella J competed in the harp section at the Reigate and Redhill Music and Drama Festival on Saturday with great success.
They delivered a traditional Scottish 17th century duet 'Skye Boat Song' in the harp and voice category and to their delight won Honours Certificates. The adjudicator remarked on 'Ella's lovely emotional singing' and 'Alana's beautiful flowing harp arpeggios'.
He praised the 'beautiful dynamic contrasts and amazing partnership' between the girls. Well done girls for making St Teresa's proud!
Alana competed in a further 3 categories on her harp and won certificates in all of them, as well as a medal and an outstanding performance trophy!
We are so proud of the girls.
BRONZE DUKE OF EDINBURGH PRACTICE
Year 10 feel well prepared for their Duke of Edinburgh expedition in June, having completed their practice in the Surrey Hills last weekend. The girls put their teamwork and navigation skills to the test, enjoying plenty of exercise and fresh air in the lovely weather we had.
LOWER SCHOOL CONCERT
" After school on Wednesday evening the girls and I had the pleasure of performing in our lower school concert. It really was so lovely to be able to listen to what our wonderful musicians like to play. We were lucky enough to have a wide variety of instruments including voice, clarinet, flute, piano, trumpet, guitar and even a harp! Furthermore, not only did we have a wide variety of instruments, we also had many different styles of music. I know that I speak for all of us when I say that the concert was truly lovely. "
The Eco council have been hard at work this week planting hanging baskets with recycled plants to hang around the school!

This Week
With the passing of fifty days since the Feast of Easter and the celebration of the Resurrection, this week came the celebration of Pentecost. This feast was originally a Jewish festival, remembering the harvest. For the disciples of Jesus, it marked the moment where their fear, following the death of Jesus, was replaced by the joy of the resurrection and the desire to share the Good News of God’s love with the whole of the world..
Surrounded by the great symbols of God’s presence - the wind and the fire - the disciples realised that they were surrounded by God’s Spirit who empowered and enlivened them.
St Augustine helps us to understand God’s Holy Spirit. He reminds us that God is love, as it says in the Sacred Scripture. For God to be love there must be a person who loves, referring to the Father, a person who is beloved, referring to the Son, and the love that they share, referring to the Holy Spirit. God’s Holy Spirit is the love that God shares with all of us.
Perhaps the most beautiful example of this is the passage from Psalm 130 where we have the image of a mother cradling their child. God loves the child, just as He loved His own Son Jesus. The child is loved by God, just as Jesus loved. And the love that they share is the love of the Holy Spirit.
And when we, like the disciples, are enlivened by God’s Holy Spirit, we too will be able to share the Good News of God’s love to our neighbours and to the world.
