SIXTH FORM NEWS

Hi all,

I hope you have had a lovely week!

The Sixth Form finished their first week with a PSHCE talk delivered by Mrs Whitton on Safeguarding. We were given valuable tips on how to protect ourselves and those around us, online and in real life.

On Wednesday, the Year 12 students had the opportunity to join one of the various further education pathways our Sixth Form has to offer. This week, the focus was on our Oxbridge pathway, led by Dr Poffley. He delivered a talk informing students on the main aspects of Oxford and Cambridge and what to consider when applying.

Year 13 have been continuing with their UCAS applications with the help of Mrs Renshaw, Ms Clarke, Miss Pitchford, and our own personal tutors. Thank you to all the wonderful teachers who have been helping us!

On Thursday, various students across the Sixth Form attended a sports conference named Girls Go Gold, allowing them to participate in a wide range of sporting events with other Girl’s Schools in the country.

We also have some very exciting news: the Sixth Form has a new toaster and dishwasher! Having the resources to make toast, and drink as many cups of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate as we wish is one of our most cherished privileges in the Sixth Form. Thank you to Gary and his team, and Maria and Lulu in Year 13 for organising this. They will definitely be used well.

The week finished with the first self-defence session of the term, applying our previously acquired theoretical knowledge through practical activities and tasks.

Have a lovely weekend,

BOARDING NEWS

This week has been filled with a variety of engaging activities that our girls have thoroughly enjoyed. They gathered for the cozy Hot Chocolate Club, where they shared stories and laughter over steaming mugs of delicious hot chocolate. In addition, our creative spirits took flight during an origamimaking session, where they transformed simple sheets of paper into beautiful works of art. One of the highlights of the week was our thrilling trip to Thorpe Park. Many of the girls braved the exhilarating roller coasters and of course, no trip to an amusement park would be complete without indulging in some delectable sweet treats, and our boarders certainly made the most of that opportunity!

As they continue to settle in, it’s heartening to see how much the girls are embracing all that boarding life has to offer. On Tuesday evening, several of our lovely boarders had the chance to attend the Sport Scholars event, where they enjoyed a wonderful evening filled with camaraderie and celebration alongside their peers. With so much fun already packed into this week, the girls are eagerly looking forward to more exciting adventures that lie ahead.

ROYAL INSTITUTION CERTIFICATE

We were delighted to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Royal Institution in recognition of our continued support in hosting their Primary Maths Masterclasses!

The workshops, aimed at inspiring Year 5 pupils from our school and other local schools, have been a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of mathematics. A special thanks was extended to Louisa McDowall for her exemplary organisation and dedication to expanding the programme each year.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Royal Institution in the future.

CO-CURRICULAR CLUBS

This term has seen a fantastic start to our Co-curricular activities at St Teresa's. We are currently running a vast range and number of activities which should ensure that your daughter can get the most out of our Co-curricular programme.

Your daughter will have been given the opportunity to sign up to new clubs during tutor time.

If you need to know the time or location of any club you can find this information on our school website, using the link below: https://st-teresas.com/senior/extra-curricular/

If you have any questions regarding our Co-curricular programme, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Stephens at m.stephens@st-teresas.com

DISSECTION CLUB

One of our co-curricular clubs is our Dissection Club, where yesterday the girls donned their lab coats and worked in teams to dissect kidneys, the organ responsible for filtering blood. It was a fascinating hands-on experience that allowed them to explore anatomy while developing teamwork and scientific skills!

This Week

Bible Reading

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Reflection

This week we focus on the theme of Resilience. We know there are times when not everything goes to plan.We forget the books we need, fall out with a friend.Things do go wrong. We may not understand how God can be in those moments.Yet we must have FAITH in Jesus as He has promised to be with us. St Therese of Avila put it this way: "Let nothing Disturb you, Let nothing frighten you,Though all things pass, God does not change. Patience wins all things. But he lacks nothing who possesses God; For God alone suffices.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to be generous: to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek to rest; to labour and to ask for no reward
