Year 13 had a wonderful evening on Thursday celebrating their ball. Well done to everyone who helped with the organisation and decorations, and we wish you the very best in all your future endeavours!

BOARDING NEWS

Boarding enjoyed their summer BBQ last week to end #Love Boarding week.

INTERHOUSE QUIZ

Year 7 enjoyed a Values Week Quiz with their counterparts from Cranmore and Manor House on Friday. The event was hosted by St Teresa's and it was a pleasure to see the pupils from the three schools working together in teams. It was a lively and happy occasion and our thanks go to Mr Stephens for organising it.

T-FEST

On Monday evening, alongside Cranmore we celebrated T Fest, a rock and pop musical festival held outdoors in the summer sun! Parents and pupils alike were delighted to listen to the music our pupils have been diligently practising, while enjoying ice cream, Pimms, and various snacks.

SUMMER BAKES

The girls have been learning some fantastic decorating skills, creating some wonderful summer themed cupcakes, biscuits, as well as some incredible looking desserts. Yummy!

SILVER DUKE OF EDINBURGH

Last Friday, some of our Year 11s left for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the Brecon Beacons, Wales. The girls endured 50km of Welsh mountain trails in brilliant sunshine. After many weeks of GCSE examinations, the three days served as a perfect time to bond outside of the school environment. The mix of steep climbs and difficult descents proved a challenge which the girls took in their stride. Well done!

MATHS MASTERCLASS

In was the final RI masterclass last week, Saileen, Keira and I had a lovely session with the Year 5 pupils on magic squares. We had a fun and interactive class where the students were able to create their own magical squares, along with answering questions about the formation of them. We expanded these ideas to stretch their understanding using 4x4 grids and linking them to significant historical moments in time. The Year 5 pupils were absolutely brilliant, well behaved and were really engaged with the history of the magic squares.

Today we had a small gathering to celebrate the success of the masterclass sessions. Each of us received a certificate and some chocolates, given to us by one of the Year 5 parents from St Martin’s School in Dorking. We also received a lovely card from the pupils, saying they loved their classes.

Afiyin

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching in the Masterclass; it was a valuable experience that taught me how to work effectively in a team and collaborate with my teammates. During the session, our team designed a variety of engaging activities. One of the highlights was having participants draw and cut flowers from different angles, encouraging them to identify which flower they found the most beautiful. This activity creatively expanded on the idea of nature's beauty, illustrating the concept of the golden angle. The pupils were highly interested in the course and actively participated in answering questions.

Andrea

The Year 12 pupils have run an exceptional set of masterclass sessions for our young mathematicians. They have planned and prepared all the sessions, created their own materials and resources and taught confidently. We are very proud of how the girls worked together to deliver such high-quality sessions. One of the visiting parents commented that their child has ‘absolutely loved it, and he’s continued doing and sharing the puzzles afterwards. He thinks maths is his superpower’.

What a lovely comment to end another series of the RI masterclasses. We look forward to meeting our new pupils next year.
