SIXTH FORM NEWSLETTER

Hi all,

We’ve made it to summer! This week the Sixth Form has been full of celebration and excitement.

Throughout the week, Year 12 have had the opportunity to take part in some online work experience. Between Monday 1st and Friday 5th July, we offered our first ever virtual work experience day to all our Sixth Form students! Whether students are interested in finance, education, healthcare, broadcast journalism, marketing or product design, these virtual work experience days helped to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real world job skills.

Last week, we also launched our new Alumnae Mentoring Programme for ourYear 12 girls to take part in.The aim of our Alumnae Programme is to facilitate mentor relationships between our current students and our experienced alumnae, including recent graduates, with a focus on networking, character development and career advancements. We hope that the Alumnae Programme will facilitate a relationship built on skill development, whilst embodying our core values: faith, character, community, compassion and intellect.

On Wednesday, Year 12 celebrated surviving the year with a party in the marquee, organised by our wonderful Events Committee. We had a lovely lunch of chicken burgers, waffle fries, and brownies with ice dessert. Each of us was then given a certificate by one of our teachers for our achievements throughout the year. These included ‘the most polite sneeze’,‘most likely to outsmart the teacher’ and ‘for always remembering your iPad but never your homework’.

Abi B and Alicia C from the Head Girl Team have continued raising funds for Toilet Twining: on Thursday and Friday they sold pre

On Friday,Year 13 joined us again for a final goodbye and we celebrated each of their achievements. Congratulations on all your hard finishing your A-levels!

I hope you have a wonderful summer.

NEWYEAR 7 INDUCTION

It was wonderful welcoming so many girls to our Year 7 induction this week. They tried out different lessons such as art, food tech and science! Thank you to the senior girls who helped out!

FRENCH TRIP

CCF CAMP

CCF Camp was a lot of fun! The cadets got to see The Red Arrows, and even sit in their planes!

CHEMISTRY TRIP

The girls enjoyed their trip to the water treatment plant. The sun was shining and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We learnt all about where our potable water comes from and the processes involved. It certainly was surprising how much energy was involved. We even got to walk underneath the reservoir.

ART PREVIEW EVENING

It was wonderful to see the stunning work our pupils have produced over the year at our art preview evening. With a selection of textiles, painting, photography, and everything in between, including some work made for the Art Scholars' Festival, there was something for everyone to see.

ART FESTIVAL

We had two visiting artists come in to give our art scholars workshops in their fields. The girls put together some wonderful sculptures and paper creations!

YEAR 12 END OF YEAR PARTY

Year 12 organised a wonderful celebration for their end of term!

PERFORMING ARTS

EVENING

The girls put on some incredible performances at this year’s performing arts evening. It was wonderful seeing so many different genres.

END OFYEAR CELEBRATIONS

We celebrated the end of the year across the whole school with a summer BBQ, the girls listened to some live music from their fellow pupils and teachers as they enjoyed the sunshine. They later had their alternative sports day!

HURST COLLEGE SHOWJUMPING

A team of NSEA riders headed to Hickstead last Friday for the 60th Hurst College Show Jumping Championships. Hundreds of young riders from schools across the country gathered for the opportunity to compete and gain qualification to ride on the hallowed turf of the International Arena at Hickstead.

Chloe B had previously qualified to compete in the 1.10m NSEA Championship, which was the first class held in the International Arena that day. It was a huge achievement to have qualified, but unfortunately Chloe had a tricky round and was not placed in that class.

The junior team comprising of Electra B, Olivia S , Rosie C and Harriet L then jumped in the 85cm junior preliminary rounds and came 6th, qualifying them to ride in the final in the International Arena; what an achievement! The competition was tough and in the end they finished 10th overall. They enjoyed taking part in the finalists’ parade after receiving their lavish rosettes in the prize giving ceremony!

Izzy L jumped individually for the juniors and rode extremely well for only 4 faults but unfortunately didn’t get placed.

The senior team comprising of Antonia S, Chloe B, Jess R and Amber B had some tricky rounds which meant the senior team didn’t qualify as a whole for the finals, but Amber and Jess did as individuals and went on to jump in the International Arena. They rode extremely well but some unlucky poles down meant they were not in the final placings.

7 out of our 9 riders rode in the International Arena that day which was a huge achievement! The riders and their horses were impeccably turned out, immaculately behaved and rode extremely well!

Congratulations everyone!
