BOARDING NEWS On Tuesday evening, the boarders celebrated Mid Autumn (Moon) Festival. They enjoyed looking for the moon in the evening, eating a home cooked meal together, including nut-free mooncakes as well as telling traditional tales.
It is a real delight to see how much the boarders are continuing to enjoy decorating and personalising their rooms and making them cosy and comfortable. On Saturday, the boarders headed off to Brighton for a day of seaside fun! The weather was glorious and the delights of Brighton, including the Lanes, fairground rides, candy floss and slot machines were much enjoyed! Next weekend we’re off to Air Hop for a spot of trampoline bouncing!

WENDY & PETER PAN—CAST LIST
SIXTH FORM NEWS On Monday, the Sixth Form 1st XI team went to play hockey against Reigate Grammar School. This was one of our first match of this academic year and the first time playing as an exclusive Sixth Form Team! We had an amazing time and our strength of character definitely shone through as we faced this challenge! We look forward to our next match. Hannah K, Captain Our Eco Committee met this week and welcomed students from years 8,10,11 and 13. All participants valuably spent their lunch time labelling some of the recycling bins around the school to make sure that the bins are used properly. The committee discussed activities for the committee to focus on in the future, for example an area in which girls can choose to trade stationery or a used textbook sale which could benefit GCSE and A Level students. Any money raised would be used for the eco team initiative around the school to improve our waste. Another future idea is to make bunting out of old school clothes that can be used to decorate boarding and around the school. On Thursday, members of the Year 13 Student Leadership Team hosted an assembly for our Year 12 students sharing with them all the possible opportunities they have the chance to gain student leadership experience, before the Head Girl Team applications in the Spring Term. Opportunities included becoming the Year 12 representative on the Student Council, the all-important Sixth Form Food Fairy who is responsible for our Sixth Form kitchen, becoming a member of our Sixth Form Events Committee (aka the Sixth Form fun club) planning trips out and internal events, joining the editorial team of our termly Student Magazine Committee, becoming an Academic Tutor for current Year 11s to support with their GCSEs and finally, working with Tilly (Year 13), our Public Speaking and Debate Prefect, with her very popular Year 5 debate and public speaking club. All Year 12 are welcome to apply for any of these roles, and more than one if they wish, applications close Friday 1st October. Good luck to all.
On Saturday morning we are looking forward to welcoming all of the prospective parents and students that will be visiting St Teresa’s for our annual Open Day. There are many Sixth Form students that will be operating as tour guides and partaking in Sixth Form lessons, allowing visitors to get a feel for what life at St Teresa’s could look like for their children. We are looking forward to meeting the future students of St T's! Imogen L, Deputy Head Girl We were delighted to welcome one of our most recent alumnae students back to St T's on Friday 17th and Tuesday 21st September. LJ Bennion was in the class of 2021 and returned to deliver PSHE talks to Years 9, 10 and 11 about the subject matter of 'Transgender (Mis)representation in TV, film and media'. The talk was very well researched and incredibly insightful into why authentic representation is crucial to the transgender community. LJ also answered pupil questions and spoke about their personal experiences, pronouns, and the future for the community. It was really enjoyable and informative. Thank you very much, LJ! Miss Cantwell, Head of PSHE

ART CLUB RETURNS! This term our new Art clubs have launched, where it has been wonderful to see the girls excited when embracing new media techniques and processes. Years 7 and 8 thoroughly enjoyed creating a dynamic collection of large-scale works using natural materials, whilst the Art Scholars and Year 9 students combined a variety of media, which will form the basis of their sketchbook covers. In addition, it was fantastic to see the students discuss their own art projects, which they had carried out independently over the week.

This Week Our school value for this year is ‘Character.’ As part of our reflection through the year, each half-term we will reflect on one outstanding character who we can adopt as an inspiration. This half-term we reflected on the amazing life of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, still known to millions across the world as Mother Teresa. At the core of our understanding of character is the idea of ‘becoming the person God calls us to be.’ We are here for a purpose, we have a unique contribution to God’s plan for the world, and our fundamental pursuit needs to be recognising this calling. And it takes time. She spent her early years as a teacher working with impoverished Bengali girls in Calcutta, providing for them an exit from poverty through education. This was God’s work, yet she knew that she was called to more. With permission, she left her community and established the Missionaries of Charity, living and working alongside the poorest of the poor, bringing the love of God to those who needed it most. Through her tireless work, and that of her religious sisters, she changed the lives of countless millions across the globe, particularly orphans, the elderly, cancer patients and AIDS/HIV victims. Her work was recognised by more international, humanitarian awards than any one person has every received, including the Nobel Peace Prize, she was voted, by a huge margin the most respected individual in the 20th Century, she brought the love of Christ and the joy of the Gospel to countless individuals, and all without any personal gain whatsoever. Truly, she is a great model of character for us to remember.
