DYNAMIC ADVENTURES TRIPS 2022 Trip Forms have been sent to parents of Years 7-11 students. Any questions please contact Miss Kay: s.kay@st-teresas.com

BOARDING NEWS Last weekend the boarders visited Hampton Court Palace. Luckily, the weather was kind to us, we took plenty of photos and spent time appreciating the history of the Palace. We then took a boat cruise to Kingston where we ran through the rain to the shops. The girls had a wonderful time and hope to revisit for Christmas. Next weekend is our last trip before Half term.

SIXTH FORM NEWS This week the Sixth Form has enjoyed Biology Week! The science department kicked off the week in Monday morning’s assembly explaining all of the fun events that have been happening, including an animal encounter on Thursday lunchtime. The biology week form quiz happened every day for the different year groups and when it was our turn we all found the quiz exceptionally hard but it provided a very fun form time activity! There was also a trip down to the biodiversity pond, the rain will not stop us at St T's! During Thursday form time, Ashley S, our lower school prefect and her Year 13/Year 7 buddies spent some time in the Year 7’s form rooms getting to know them a bit better. Linking in with Biology Week we helped each of the forms in their submission for the lower school biology quiz, so good luck to the winning Year 7 form! It was great to spend time as the oldest member of the senior school with the newest members, we really enjoy our buddy system with the Year 7s, it is one of our favourite activities of the week! On Friday, the Year 13s enjoyed their 'stress free afternoon' as a treat, watching a film with an added treat of popcorn, this event is followed up with an assembly next week about Managing Stress - The Pressure Pot That Is Year 13 so that we can learn about how to stop and take care of ourselves. A timely reminder as Mental Health Week is coming up next week and was planned and designed by the Head Girl Team and Miss Pitchford to help relieve stress for the Upper Sixth girls as it is a very intense time for us with UCAS, predicted grades and A Levels. We are all looking forward to a nice break for half-term but before that, and most excitingly, the Sixth Form have Halloween plans for next week, with thanks to our Events Committee, but more about that in my update next week! Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend and a big thank you from the Sixth Form to the Biology Department for such a fun Biology Week this week. Imogen L, Deputy Head Girl

On Tuesday evening Schola Cantorum sang a beautiful evensong in the chapel, bringing a sense of peace and reflection to our community. The introduction of school cassocks and cravats added a real atmosphere to the event! On Thursday, Year Seven also enjoyed performing some opera with a visiting band and singers. The show included elegant dance, riveting drama and impassioned music to reproduce the exceptional tale of Carmen by Bizet. Ella M, Music Captain

ECO COUNCIL The eco – committee’s main aim is to reduce waste, using the three ‘R’s that stand for ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’. Firstly, Reducing is about cutting back on the amount of waste made. Reusing is looking for a new way to make use of items which would initially be thrown out. Lastly, recycling is using waste materials to produce new products that can be sold and used again. Our idea is to make, use and upcycle unwanted uniform to create bunting ,hair scrunchies and other items. We started by using paper templates to draw out shapes on our school shirts then started to sew pieces together to begin this new project. As part of our reduce, re-use as a community we are looking for donations of text books that you no longer want and these can be dropped off at Reception. With our sale on October 10th. Thank you from the Eco Council

BIOLOGY WEEK—ANIMAL PETTING On Thursday, during Biology week, we had a visit from the people at Our Amazing Animal World, who are professional animal handlers who enjoy making lives better with the joy of their amazing rescue animals. As you can see from the photos below, the girls loved seeing and handling the range of exotic animals that were brought in.

CARMEN FEATURING YEAR 7 CHOIR On Thursday evening Year 7 sang songs from the opera Carmen along with musicians, singers and performers. A great night was had by all. Thank you Mr Caister and Miss Cantwell
