NOTICE YEAR 9 OPTIONS EVENING: Year 9 Options Evening is taking place on 1st December where the girls will have the opportunity to speak to their teachers who will be able to answer any questions your daughters may have. There will be a follow up Parents’ Evening in January and the closing date for the options form will be by February half term.
SCHOOL PHOTOS: Please be informed that the photographs taken earlier this term were delivered over half term. Your daughter will be given the Individual and Year Group photograph by her Form Tutor. If you wish to order any of the photographs, please follow the instructions given on the sample photograph. You order online directly with the photographers. Any problems, please contact your daughter’s Head of Year.
BOARDING NEWS All the girls have returned back with wonderful stories of their half term. We all dressed up and had treats for Halloween. We have planned many trips for the rest of the term, and we are all looking forward to each weekend. The boarding house has been hit by the knitting bug. The amazing Ms Forti, who is a fabulous knitter herself, has introduced knitting to house. We will all have a fantastic collection of scarves in every colour by Christmas! We are so proud of the girls for persevering and learning a new skill and hopefully we will start to see some new scarves out and about in the future. Mrs Zoe Wragg Acting Head of Boarding
SIXTH FORM NEWS The Sixth Form Events Committee organised a Halloween Hunt for the Sixth Form on Monday lunchtime. Everyone who participated thoroughly enjoyed running around and finding as many Halloween treats as they could find. I really enjoyed organising this event alongside Neve, Pia, Pippa and Klara. On Tuesday, during the All Saints Feast Day Mass, myself, Liv, Pippa, Klara and Charlotte delivered the readings during the celebration for the feast of All Saints. During Year 13’s UCAS Session on Tuesday we continued to finish our Personal Statements. Congratulations to the Year 13 students who completed their final check this week and sent off their UCAS form with Miss Pitchford. On Wednesday, Years 11, 12 and 13 students had the opportunity take part in psychometric testing. They were tested on their verbal reasoning, special reasoning and numerical reasoning, as well as responding to questions about themselves and what they are interested in. All of these areas they were tested on are to help the Morrisby Careers Profiling software to analyse their skill sets and what career paths and opportunities they would be most suited to. During the Sixth Form Assembly on Thursday morning, the Events Committee told the Sixth Form girls all about the exciting Christmas events that are coming up in December. We will be doing a Sixth Form advent calendar, snowflake decorating, gingerbread decorating, watching a Christmas movie, a Christmas Party and an Ice-Skating trip to Somerset House! All very exciting! On Friday afternoon, the Year 12 students had their Stay Safe Stay Alive Course during their PSHCE Lesson. They learnt about how crucial it is to be safe when you drive and be aware of other drivers on the roads. The Head Girl Team are preparing the Autumn Term edition of the Student magazine at the moment, we have two exciting competitions for everyone to get involved with. Wishing everyone a lovely bonfire night weekend! Emma W (Deputy Head Girl)
Autumn Term School Magazine Competition:
DAY OF THE DEAD This week our Spanish classes have been celebrating the Mexican festival ‘Día de los Muertos’. The MFL department has collaborated with several Mexican students, who explained in class what this beautiful festival consists of. They described how the festival is celebrated in their country, and answered questions about how they celebrate it at home with their families. This year’s activity was to create the 'Dia de los Muertos' altar. The girls all worked together to make colourful paper flowers to spread across the table with photos remembering those departed. The altar will be open to all students and staff for a couple of weeks in Room 20 during break time and lunch time.
MUSIC SCHOLARS’ CONCERT On Tuesday, our talented Music Scholars put on a truly special concert for parents and staff in the Chapel. With individual performances on instruments including cello, flute, piano, voice and violin, the school's best musicians showed off their skill with aplomb. The repertoire was an exciting mix of classical and modern, with pieces from musicals (Oliver and Hamilton) nestled between Haydn, Tchaikovsky and Debussy. The future of music at St Teresa's is bright, with such talented students in the department.
MATHS OLYMPIAD On the 28th of September, three of our Year 12 mathematicians participated in the Mathematics Olympiad for Girls. This Olympiad is aimed at girls and young women across the UK and consists of five challenging problems. Congratulations to Siqi J and Haiji Z who achieved participation certificates and Yuyi Z who achieved a merit certificate. Once again, well done to them. They did the Mathematics Department and our school proud.

We hope that you have all had a lovely half term. We have sent out a questionnaire to all of our riders so that we can run more of a variety of activities during the holiday period. We will be collecting these responses on Thursday 17th November and will have the Christmas Holiday activities published the following week ready to book. As the weather is so variable at the moment, please make sure that you come with a jumper (no hoodies!) and/or a coat to wear when it’s chilly out. As we are on top of a hill, we get a bit of a cold wind when riding in the arena! A reminder that if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit. Any later and we are unable to fill the slot with a rider for a catch up lesson or off the waitlist.
In the half term holiday, STE ran Pony Mornings and Afternoons which are fun for both riders and ponies! There were also NSEA training sessions in preparation for the team who competed at the NSEA Championships! And on the 25th, STE also hosted a biting clinic which was a big success! The horse of the week is… Sidan!
Finally, while the weather is showing on and off rain, we’d like to remind our riders that we still run lessons in the wind and rain provided there is not a risk to anyone’s safety. As an alternative for those who don’t want to ride, then we do offer stable management

This Week On Tuesday both our schools joined together to celebrate the Feast of All Saints. On this day, we remember the example of the countless number of those who have lived heroic lives of virtue and who, we believe, already enjoy the eternal life of heaven. Many of these are saints we know by name and we recalled those most familiar in our own school environment - our house saints, St Benedict, St Francis, St Dominic and St Ignatius; but also those who have buildings in our school named after them - St John Bosco (the English and Mathematics departments), St Thomas More (the Science and Geography departments) and St Edmund Campion (the Art and Modern Foreign Languages departments). And of course, we have very recently recalled our own school patron, St. Thérèse of Lisieux. We recalled that we are all called to be saints, that is, to recognise that God has called each and everyone of us to a very particular mission. May we enable the seed of that calling to grow and flourish in our lives.
REMINDER—Shoebox Appeal Everyone is reminded that the final date to send you shoebox in for our ’Children in Distress’ appeal is Friday, 11th November. Please bring your completed box and add it to the display in the School Chapel. Thank you!
