SIXTH FORM NEWS Our year 13 Geographers, including Julia, have embarked on a journey to Slapton Lake in Devon to complete their NEA projects as part of their A-Level course, undertaking various data analysis tasks and explorations in Devon. We hope they enjoyed their week down there and we look forward to their return. In Julia’s absence, I am sharing the Sixth Form update with you this week. On Monday Aleisha and Sophie spoke in the Whole School Assembly about Anti Bullying Week. Sophie, Senior Prefect: Pastoral, has shared some information about their assembly with us: ‘Sophie and I ran an assembly for the school as it is Anti-Bullying Week. We spoke about the definition of bullying, and top tips that the AntiBullying Alliance has published, as well as ways that St T's students can get involved with 'making a noise about bullying', per this year's theme. Also, the Mental Health Ambassadors have proposed a competition where students can create a poem or artwork about bullying, and what it means to them. The winner will get an edible prize!' Last week the whole of Sixth Form enjoyed a talk on study skills from a specialist speaker. She shared with us insights into valuable revision techniques, such as the use of mind maps, which can aid memory by 40%. We are all grateful for the talk and are sure that many of the skills will aid us in our revision for our forthcoming exams in the summer. Some of our Sixth Form girls who are members of Schola Cantorum sang Evensong at Chichester Cathedral on Wednesday. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together and sing in this beautiful setting. (Jadwiga: Head Girl) In Year 12 Assembly this week Year 12 students had their Personal Tutor launch, whereby each year 12 has the opportunity to select a member of staff as their Personal Tutor. This is a member of staff who works with the Form Tutors and Sixth Form team to support Sixth Form tutors with academic or pastoral help, and to especially will help with making important UCAS decisions in year 13. The past few weeks we have also been continuing to celebrate many university offers, for a variety of courses all over the UK. We wish the rest of year 13 the best of luck in sending off their UCAS forms! We hope everyone has a restful weekend! Georgina (Deputy Head Girl)

BOARDING NEWS The Boarders had a fun packed weekend! On Saturday afternoon, all the boarders took part in playing archery tag outside. Later that evening they visited Cranmore School to enjoy a wonderful firework display with hot chocolate and sweets. On Sunday the girls took advantage of the sunny weather and went for a walk stopping for warm drinks and treats at Ranmore Common. For Anti-Bullying Week, the girls made a video - 'Say no to bullying' The girls had fun making this video and hope to make some more videos in the future. Preparations are being made for the Boarders Christmas Stall. Next weekend the boarders are doing Pottery painting. We look forward to showing you all their creations!

CCF - LORD MAYOR’S SHOW On Saturday 11th November, Evie T and I took part in the London and South East Regional marching band (L&SER); after being chosen through a selection process from a 2 day camp during half-term at RAF Northolt, and being the only 2 CCF cadets chosen out of L&SER to play the trumpet, for the annual prestigious, Lord Mayor's Show. The show consisted of over 150 floats, and several military and civilian bands including Lord Mayor, Michael Mainelli. The Parade started at 11:03 following the 2 minute silence for Armistice day and was televised on BBC1, we were fortunate enough to make a short appearance! We marched around 15km starting off at Mansion House to the Royal Courts by way of St Paul’s, Cheapside and Fleet Street, returning up the Embankment and Victoria Street making a few detours through narrower streets along the way and were met with cheering supporters! Once we finished the Parade, Evie and I along with various other instrumentalists from other ATC's were awarded with our silver Regional musician instrumentalist badges which will be sown onto our brassards. MUSIC SUCCESS St Teresa's harpist Alana E (Year 7) is one of the youngest members of the National Youth Harp Orchestra of Great Britain (NYHO). Unique in Europe, the NYHO has forty of the most talented harpists from across the UK and this selective orchestra provides a training platform and wealth of opportunities for dedicated young harpists. Over the October break, Alana performed in concert with the NYHO alongside the Conservatório Regional do Algarve Maria Campina from Portugal. She loved travelling to London where she learned from the most senior members of both the NYHO and CRAMC orchestras when they performed at The Royal Military Chapel - The Guard's Chapel and forming new friendships with the students from the CRAMC. She then performed in concert with the joint Portuguese and British orchestra the following evening. Pictures attached. The harp orchestra members dress in red to match the red C-string of all harps. Link to their page and the recent concerts here. https://www.facebook.com/photo? fbid=861160259319569&set=a.526265626142369

In the upcoming 2024 Easter Break, Alana will embark on a performance tour with the Youth Harp Orchestra of Great Britain to The Algarve, Portugal and Seville, Spain . This will be her first performance tour abroad with the NYHO and she is looking forward to it very much.

ANTI - BULLYING WEEK This week Year 7 have been involved in the important task of collating comments and feedback, via an anti-bullying suggestions box. Students were asked 'What does bullying look like?' In a scenario-based series of questions. Then, students were asked to provide suggestions for improving our methods and approaches in dealing with bullying. We ran an assembly, which highlighted some of the key aspects in this year's theme, led by the Anti Bullying Alliance campaign 'Make some Noise about Bullying'. We were also fortunate to have our Sixth Form, Year 7 Representative Beth D-T & pastoral representative Sophie R, who will be supporting Year 7 with any issues which have affected them. This week has been a great exchange for student voice and Year 7 have been proactive and innovative in their approach in our aims to combat bullying as part of this focused strategy. We look forward to sharing the results of the campaign soon. Miss Burgess - Head of Year 7
