Year 5—Easter Gardens

This week, the girls compared scripture readings about the first Easter Sunday. They then reflected on these events by creating their own Easter Gardens using natural materials.

Eco & Gardening Club

In Eco and Gardening Club, the girls walked up to the greenhouse to see how their seeds had faired over the Easter holidays. They discovered that many had germinated and grown enormously in the holidays. The broad beans, kale and sunflower seeds are now ready to be planted out into the raised beds. We had time to plant out the broad beans around tripod sticks which we will train to climb as they grow. The broad bean and radish seeds that we planted in the raised beds had also grown.

Year 4—RE

In RE this week, Year 4 kicked off their new topic 'New Life' with some Drama. On Thursday, the girls learnt about the story of Peter and John, who were arrested following Pentecost, for spreading the Word of God. They stood up for themselves against officials, showing bravery and courage. The girls created scenarios from their own lives in which they would have to use the same bravery and courage to stand up for themselves. See if you can guess what their scenarios are….

Year 5—Chefs Adopt a School

Year 5 took part in the first session of the Chefs Adopt a School project. After receiving their chef hats and learning about how we experience tastes, the girls enjoyed using their senses to explore different flavours. They considered the influences that all our senses, especially sight, smell and hearing, have on how we feel about different foods including lemon, chicory and fruit jellies. The girls also had to ‘guess the vegetable’ by touch, whilst blindfolded, to much amusement! Thank you Gary for organising such a fun and informative session. We look forward to next time.

Year 3—Maths

In maths this week, Year 3 have been learning about capacity and volume. The girls had fun discovering that there are different sized containers which have a capacity of 1 litre, how many millilitres there are in 1 litre, how to read various scales on measuring jugs or cylinders and much more.
