Year 3 French & Art Trust Collaboration with Manor House & Cranmore
Children in Year 3 from Cranmore and Manor House joined St Teresa's in a collaborative art activity on Monday. They learned about the style of the French artist Henri Matisse and then endeavoured to create their own colourful, collage-inspired artwork. No pencils were allowed in the making of this work and instead they "drew with scissors", a technique invented by Matisse. In addition, they were given the option of making theirs 3D, which many did as you will see. Bravo les artistes!

6MK Class Assembly
On Wednesday, 6MK took us back in time to the 1940's and World War II where they re-enacted what life was like for children during the war. With songs, drama and excerpts from their creative writing, we watched as they experienced an air raid, waved goodbye to their parents from the platform and celebrated VE day.
Year 5 adopt a Chef workshop
In session 3 of 'Adopt a Chef', Year 5 made bread dough with Gary and Bev, thinking about ingredients, where they come from and what the final products may look like. ways in which to bake it thinking about shape, size and flavour, There were a variety of different results ranging from baguettes and pizza to garlic bread and dough balls. The one thing they had in common was that they all tasted delicious!

Their enthusiasm and dedication are truly commendable, and we can already see their confidence growing with each practice session.

U10 Cricket
On Tuesday, the C and D Cricket teams travelled to CLFS to play in cricket fixture. The girls demonstrated great knowledge of the rules during their fielding which put the CLFS batters under real pressure. However, the strong accurate and consistent bowling for the CLFS teams put the girls under pressure while batting and unfortunately meaning we struggled to score many points. T
The A and B teams played against Manor House away. The girls demonstrated good teamwork and fielding skills. To continue with their development further, it would be great to see all the girls at training on a Friday after school for cricket club!
Well done to all the girls who participated in the matches and a special mention to Natalia T and Issi M-S who were both awarded players of the match!!
U11 Swimming
What a fantastic end to the year for the U11 Swim team. In March the U11s Surrey Relay team qualified for the English Schools Regional Finals. Over the last month, the girls joined the Senior squad to improve their swimming techniques and times. The moment finally came on Saturday 11th May when the girls got to compete in this prestigious event. The hard work paid off as they improved on the 4x25 Medley relay by 2 seconds and then 1 second quicker in the 4x25 Free relay. The girls placed an amazing 10th overall out of the whole of the South East. region Well done to Olivia P, Lottie C, Stephanie v E and Matilda R. on such a great achievement!
U11Tennis
On Tuesday some of the Year 6 friendlies squad dropped down to Cranmore for a few sets of Tennis. The players ran and scored their own games and there were some fantastic rallies played. There were some wins, losses and draws from both side and we are definitely going to challenge them to a rematch. Well done to all

This Week
With all the celebrations of Easter and, more recently, the Ascension, it is easy to forget that we are in the month of May, the month that is traditionally dedicated to Mary. Mary is absolutely central to our faith. Almost every church you ever visit commemorates the memory of Mary through statues or other images, very often cradling the infant Jesus in the pose of Madonna and Child. Our school Chapel is no exception, with its beautiful 18th century image of Our Lady of Sorrows.
In Chapel this week we heard the account of the Annunciation, that amazing mystical experience that Mary had when the Angel Gabriel invited her to become the mother of God’s incarnate Son. The image we chose for accompany the reading was chosen deliberately. While there are thousands of similar images, we are reminded here that the angel, God’s herald and a heavenly creature, bows down before Mary, who, we are told, was ‘full of grace,’ Mary, of course, had a choice. The decision was not forced upon her. Instead, she freely chose to participate in God’s plan of salvation and humbly declares, ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let what you have said be done unto me.’
It is unlikely that we will experience God’s call to us in such a dramatic way. Appearances of winged heavenly messengers are rare!! Yet each and everyone of us will just as surely be called by God. We believe that each and everyone of us is part of God’s great plan for our world and for humanity. Indeed, each of us is called to participate in a unique way to enable that plan to be completed.
Mary declares,in her great hymn, The Magnificat, that ‘my soul is filled with joy.’ Surely one of the main reasons that Mary gave her great ‘YES’ to God was the knowledge that it would bring about the greatest of joys. Despite any troubles or challenges - and she was in no doubt that these would comeher openness to God’s plan was to be the greatest source of joy in her life. Likewise, when we open ourselves to participate in God’s wonderful plan for us, so we too will experience a depth of joy beyond anything that the world can offer!
