Message from the Headmaster
It was a busy week for our pupils with the summer assessments taking place in the sports hall and form rooms. Well done to the boys for their diligence and focus and I am delighted that they can now relax and enjoy the halfterm break.
Congratulations to all the pupils who stretched themselves in the Junior Maths Challenge; many of those involved from Years 7 and 8 earned a bronze, silver or gold certificate. In addition, on Friday a number of other pupils were selected from the online House Quiz challenge to compete in the final at lunch time with Borelli House crowned the eventual winner.
I would like to specially mention our U13 and U14 pupils who competed in the Walton and Weybridge rowing regatta. Saturday morning saw the welcomed return of Cranmore crews to this event. Oarsmen from Years 8 and 9 ensured a display of tremendous endeavour when racing in the quadruple and double scull events. I’m sure the boys are looking forward to competing again after the half-term break.

EverittSummer Assessments
This week pupils have been sitting their summer assessments. Whilst these are not quite ‘end of year’ examinations – we still have another half term! – they do represent an opportunity for pupils to display the progress that they have made over the course of the academic year. Pupils in Year 4 to 7 have taken these assessments in the comfort of their form rooms, whilst pupils in Year 8 & 9, have had the more formal setting of the Sports Hall. This setting provides an excellent taste of the experience of external examinations and is therefore an important part of the preparation process as pupils move towards the GSCE years.
Well done to all pupils for their diligent preparation and hard work throughout the year. We look forward to providing high quality feedback after half term.

COMPETITION
The Senior School House Quiz final was won by Borelli. In a tense final, it came down to two teams : Borelli and Stokes, with Borelli winning by 1 point in the closing seconds of the competition! It was a good day for Borelli as their Upper Prep team counterparts also won the Upper Prep House School House Quiz final, achieving the double at their first attempt. Congratulations to Borelli!!
Sport Update
Rowing - Walton and Weybridge Regatta
Cranmore's rowing program successfully competed at the Walton and Weybridge Regatta over the weekend. It was a great experience, with fourteen boys from years 8 and 9 racing in the quadruple and double scull events. Learning to row on the water can be tricky; therefore, those who were selected had to demonstrate their competence as oarsmen in order to participate in the race.
The boys really rose to the occasion, as this was Cranmore's first regatta in three years. They displayed plenty of new skills throughout the day, from carefully manoeuvring onto a stake boat for the start, to maintaining a straight course within the buoyed lanes to race successfully. Furthermore, during the afternoon, the racers had to contend with a brisk headwind, which, combined with the opposing direction of the stream, created unfavourable conditions. Nevertheless, the boys competed fiercely, enjoyed the day immensely, and gained valuable racing experience.
We look forward to seeing the boys compete again next half term as they continue to improve and grow stronger.

We had another golf fixture this week and won against Northcote Lodge. Cricket matches have taken place against Shrewsbury House and Danes Hill and tennis matches against Downsend, Parkside, Rokeby and St Teresa's.
We had the trophy delivered from the Skiing Indoor Snowsports Championships this week. The skiers were presented the award in assembly for coming 1st in the Junior Boys competition.
