What is your Plan B? In the worst case scenario, where do you go? Is your safe place near? If there was a bomb shelter, are you able to get to it? Can't find a pump? Always have a full tank of gas. You never know when you will need to flee. ATM unable to access data. No cash can be reached. Have you put something aside? No calls can be made. No net, unfortunately. The digital age is not so grand when digital field is destroyed swift. Everyone is only out for themselves. Do you have someone you can rely on? Everyone will not survive You should expect the worst and hope for the best. Will you be among the unfortunate victims? Will you be among the dreary survivors? The earth was not prepared for this. Only you can persevere. In the end, it all rests on your PLAN

Every minute is a fight…a fight for…love, life, freedom, happiness… There are different ways to pursue victory…you can sit back, contemplate, and use strategic maneuvers and play life like a game of chess and that’s the way some choose to go about it. The majority of the masses typically choose to let life just happen and hope for the best and whine and cry when things don’t tend to work out on their own. Life was more meant to be taken head on; we weren’t meant to just sit and wait for things to happen. The other way some choose to take on life is to dig in with their fingernails and grab on and grasp every possible strand, thread, and fiber of their own being and all that surrounds them. We were meant to feel passion, conviction, and determination; it is important to embrace these feelings, urges, and desires. You have got to grab onto life and hold on tight. We get only one, and it shouldn’t be wasted. I have personally observed so many that take their life for granted and the reality is that it is such a precious gift in which we are given one shot to enjoy. ‘Live Life to the Fullest’ you see written on bumper stickers. ‘Today is the first day of the rest of our lives’ you hear in movies all the time (curse the cine-nicotine), but no one truly understands that yes these things are true… movies, music, pop culture including bumper stickers all effect the way we think and operate.

One might think that these things might have a positive influence over us as a society if they have such inspiring messages and they have got to effect us somehow right? Well, they’d be wrong (at least typically…we don’t want to generalize too much). The truth is that we live in such a cynical society that people are too quick to blow these things off as bubble gum pop culture nonsense. People go as far as to down right believe these things are just blatant mockeries opposed to just falsehoods which inevitably lead them to be even more cynical. This is a huge obstacle that one must overcome in order to be able to progress and be prosperous. Too many are unsure of why prosperity has yet to come their way, yet they make no efforts to bring it to them or move themselves in its direction. Then there are also so many far too quick to blame those who are prosperous rather than just taking a moment to really evaluate where their lives are and why they are heading in the direction they are. This is sad as it is merely up to them to change their existence, yet they will never see it that way. It is important to not only grasp at life, but also to realize your faults, shortcomings, and missteps in efforts to continue to strive for the glory you can achieve in life. One who refuses to acknowledge their own role in the problems that have plagued them over the years has no chance of ever rectifying these issues. Therefore they will inevitably continue to squander their life in a meaningless existence in efforts to prove a point to those who are prosperous, yet they only hurt themselves and others around them. Another key point to be made is that it is not only affecting one’s self if so chosen to squander their existence; it affects all who care, even if only indirectly. All those around you who actually care feel the pain and suffering you go through (sometimes more than you yourself do). All because you choose to not correct your life and embrace happiness and joy, you are bringing down those you claim to love and cherish. If you truly feel for those around you, don’t forget them when you are down and dogging it so to speak. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get ready for what ever is coming and take it head on…if not for your own well being…do it for theirs and just maybe you’ll feel some repercussive joy…(maybe…wink wink). Sometimes you’ve just got to say to yourself, why not…I mean if life is just so horrific anyways why not just try something (anything)…because in such a cynical view of the world…anything’s got to be better…Right?!?!? The point is that you can’t just sit and wait…nor can you blame others for your misfortune. At some point you have got to suck it up and be real with yourself to the point that you are aware of your own abilities and your level of fault in your own life and situation. You’ve got to get out there and fight for your right to live, love, and be happy… “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear… …is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” -Vince Lombardi (1913–1970)

by AcidBurn (Actually it is a turn OF phrase, and all that means is ‘a way of saying something.’) This reminds me of all the idioms, old wives’ tales, and other clichéd phrases that are repeated over and over again through out life. Many of us dismiss them as such; “oh, it’s just something you say…that never really happens, right?” Well, in fact, they are all too often very true and they sneak up on you because you don’t address them and give them the attention needed to avoid the fallout. My quote of the day is:

“Every Cloud has a Silver Lining” Not every event has to be taken so seriously and detrimental to your life. It can be one piece of a grand scheme that will ultimately lead to a satisfying life. Life’s what you make it. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Every cloud has a silver lining. Call it what you will, what it all comes down to is that you have to look on the bright side of things. And don’t say there isn’t one. The object is to manage the cards you’re dealt; because more than likely there are many that have it worse. No, it is not a contest; and no, you should not always compare yourself to anyone else. This practice frequently leads to feeling inadequate more that anything else, but you have to admit that your life could be worse. That means there is something that you have that you can be proud of or glad for. Maybe you’ll get a really good laugh after it. Whatever it is, use it to make yourself happy. Too many people, I believe, are wasting their time complaining about what’s wrong with their life instead of trying to fix it. If it is something you cannot change, then that is all the more reason not to complain; it won’t do any good. If there is something happening in your life that is difficult or you are simply not where you want to be, it is important to stay positive. Look at the good points, even if they are few, and focus on those. Then actively try to fix anything that is not at its best. If nothing else, do something good for someone else. Your life might be the same, but you will have given another their happy moment. If everyone took that to heart, then the good deed will eventually comeback to you.

“You never know where or when a blessing is gonna come.” I have been so blessed. I love people. I was raised old school; you welcome new neighbors, even if you’re the one that moved to a new place, I go introduce myself. If they are a ‘keep to their self’ person or family; I just let them know me in their own time. It doesn’t take long for them to see that I’m real. I’m not a bother, but I keep an eye out when I know they are away or if they just moved I let them borrow my phone. Sometimes people in a move will need to borrow a little sugar, an egg, or something that you might be able help. You have to be cautious; I don’t just let people come into my house. You gradually get to know people and learn trust. I have lived in my home for 2 ½ years. There is only one other neighbor that’s been here as long as I. But through this, he and I have welcomed quite a few. And it doesn’t take long to establish as we say “Neighbor Friendship,” (Which means we don’t bug each other but we are there for each other). We’re not nosey but we are there to help when needed. We share things, borrow, and bless when we know there’s a need! “Neighborly Love!” I have been blessed by so many I would have never expected. My neighbors have been a blessing, some more than others. I’ve had problems with some; we all do. But for the most, I’ve met awesome people I’ll never forget. I feel as safe as you can feel in a home and it’s a lot to do with my neighbors. It’s all due to GOD! Thank you my Lord & Thank you Ms. Jean & Calvin, Tony, Cris, Jeaneè, Ms. Deborah, Dustin & Caitlyne, Hilda, Jeraldine & Big Pappa, and all the rest! I Love You, God Bless You!

Sincerely, The Frosted Flake

to sit to plan to ponder to outright pontificate the outlandish possibilities the skys the limit there is no end not in sight for we know no bounds we defy laws of physics as everything is physics the mathematical algorithm that makes up our utter insanity is beyond reproach by any mere mortal as the preposterously astronomical conclusion will inevitably be there is no answer or is there the answer is out there or is it or is it so close that it is right here we sit back and ease into our own comfortability yet while still pushing the boundaries of our own existence in an endless effort to bridge this gap between greatness and insanity as those we pass on a daily basis have the potential to be so much more yet limit themselves constantly as they do not see the future nor do they see the possibilities of what could come of their own efforts so we sit and ponder and ponder again and then in drastic efforts take on the huge feat of conquering the injustice of it all and change what is what was and what those think there is to be but not at first because we must wait as we continue to fill our plate with more and more trying ever so effortlessly to prove that we are the kings and gods that our reputations uphold us to be then only sit back for a mere moment to speculate the possibilities of what it is that we are about to partake in this endless battle that we engulf ourselves in whilst watching the plate overflow and then as the shot of adrenaline surges through our veins we feel the course as it tingles throughout our body and in a single glimmer of an instant we notice that we are no longer sitting and the second hand is upon us and time is on our side as we as if not of our own doing possess the time itself and it flows from us at the last possible instant in the very opportune moment the pieces that make up this intricate jigsaw as if meant to by some greater power now fit together ever so tightly yet gently and with only nanoseconds to spare we feel the rush as all is well...victory is ours

This past presidential election season brought out some interesting attitudes that came together to energize different sections of the country. You had the undercover (and some not so undercover) racists who had to defeat Obama at all costs. You had the Clintonite inner circle who, with their sense of entitlement, nearly tore the Democratic Party apart. Most interesting, you had the grassroots movement that coalesced around the candidacy of Texas Republican Representative Ron Paul. With a coalition of anti-war conservatives, big government opponents, and stoners of all shades; he was Nader circa 2000; the one voice that made it to the national stage to point out the complete inadequacy of all the rest. But, as the dust cleared for the Obama administration, we must ask: What do Ron Paul and his followers really stand for, besides the destruction of the status quo? Paul and his followers would say they are Libertarians. A ‘libertarian’ is really anyone who believes in liberty and free will (I think that’s most of us), but politically, a libertarian is someone who believes in limited/eliminated government. Since this encompasses many ideas and visions of the future, the libertarian moniker is claimed by people on the right (the Libertarian Party, 20/20’s John Stossel, Reason Magazine) who ‘settle’ for Republicans on election day, and leftists (progressive anarchists {or any shade of anti-Marxists socialists}, Noam Chomsky, Bill Maher on a good day) who ‘settle’ for Democratic candidates. In general, you can tell who the libertarian is in a conversation because they seem to be the only people able to say things like, “Yeah, I voted for (fill in the blank), but he/she is still a corrupt and power-hungry crook.” (Just so my bias is transparent, I’m a leftist libertarian. I feel my politics to be the correct ones and couldn’t be objective to save my life.) I think one way we might view the phenomenon that was the Paul candidacy, is through the prism of Austin’s own Alex Jones, radio host and filmmaker. I first saw Jones in Richard Linklater’s Waking Life, driving down the street and screaming into a P.A. system about the “systems of control.” His words rang true, but something about his delivery made me slightly uneasy. That’s the thing about right-wing libertarians. They say things that sound good. Really good. They attack the elite media (who are beholden to their ownership) for covering frivolous stories instead of the ones that actually affect our daily lives. They toss incendiary words at the government and law enforcement (tyrannical, fascist, etc.). They believe in the definite possibility that our government wages wars in other countries to better control the domestic population (George Orwell - from left to right, we all keep biting his style). Most are supporters of equal rights for gays, the end to drug prohibition, an end to our blind support for Israeli apartheid, and an overall reevaluation of how we want our government to function (it wasn’t called the “Ron Paul Revolution” for nothing).

Here, however, is where the problems begin. Their answers (and here we reenter Alex Jones) are guns, God, capitalism, and nationalism. Once you learn what someone’s solutions are, it’s a good idea to go back and reexamine what their problems were. The truth that the media fail to report on is the coming enslavement of humanity under one world government (which is how they see the United Nations). The New World Order is coming in the form of NAFTA, a North American Union, gun control laws, and a world banking system. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this last one might even explain their attacks on the Israeli government. Anytime people start talking about shadow governments and banking conspiracies, it sounds like skinheads and their ZOG (Zionist Occupied Government) nonsense. Alex Jones and his followers are extremely xenophobic, and constantly talk about border security and sovereignty being taken away. Being religious people doesn’t take anything away from their arguments (there are religious leftists, despite what the right would have you believe), but they do tend to put these big political problems in terms of “good” and “evil.” Let’s put this good/evil analysis towards two issues that right and left agree on, but for different reasons. On a recent episode of The IFC Media Project, Alex Jones is quoted as saying, “The New World Order controlled media has one goal: to pacify the public to stop revolution, so that the New World Order can finish constructing its authoritarian, tyrannical world government.” He believes that to further the goals of their owners, the media lie to us, and are therefore complicit in what the future holds. Noam Chomsky would agree with Jones on the goals of the media. In the book he co-authored with Edward Herman, “Manufacturing Consent” (and the documentary film about Chomsky of the same name), one of the main thesis is that the media do distort, lie, and omit to pacify the public and are complicit in the tragic outcomes: whether illegal wars or the destruction of the labor movement. Where Chomsky would probably disagree with Jones, is that the media (and their owners) do this to maintain the status quo, not to radically change things. In Chomsky’s view, the corporate elite already possess enough power and influence to control whatever they choose. No tyrannical world government required. Alex Jones is also one of the main proponents of the 9/11 truth movement. They reject the ‘official’ version of what happened on that day, and support any number of conspiracy theories that espouse that the government is culpable for the tragedy; either by committing the terrorism or simply allowing it to happen. The “9/11 Truthers” weave together a lot of facts about building structures and hijacking response times, but their ‘smoking gun’ would probably be the Project for a New American Century. In 2000, this think tank (full of future Bush cabinet members and supporters) recommended to President Clinton the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. They argued the necessity for this action, but admitted that the American public wouldn’t support this action short of a “Pearl Harbor-like event.” Enough proof for the 9/11 Truthers that it was an inside job. The view from the left is slightly less sinister. In this view, the Bush administration simply took advantage of the tragedy to put already desired plans into motion. Either way, the Bush administration manipulated 9/11 into an excuse to invade Iraq. We’re quickly coming to a consensus on that fact.

“Hittin’ the Bottle, Again?” With some babies it’s easy, some a little tougher. One thing that I know is true – is that you must be constant when teaching them. We say no – no so many times before they understand what it means; sometimes its one of their first words. (cute) The harder things such as taking them off the bottle, once you take it away you cannot give it back because the child will get confused and it will be harder each time to get them off it again. They usually realize that crying and throwing a fit can make it easy to get their way. It makes it so hard on the baby. It might seem hard for you, but believe me it’s harder for the baby. They will begin to not understand whether you mean things or not, causing confusing whether they can cry and be upset to get their way. And it’s not their fault; it’s the parent’s and then the parent’s get frustrated with the baby. It’s the same with pottytraining. You can’t go back and forth. Honestly with your babies and kids, do things consistent. It’ll make it easier on everyone.

Caring Mom,

The Frosted Flake

What if I told you I loved you? Would you hate me then? What if I told you you’re my best friend, and that I couldn't lose you now? Would you love me now? What if I wanted to die? Would you save me then? What if I told you, I'd die for you? Would you believe me then? What if I told you I cared? Would you trust me then? What if I'm told you I'm scared? Would you understand then? What if I cried? Would you help make it right? What if I stood up for you? Would you understand why? What if I held you when you cried? Would you know that I love you then? What if I told you how I feel? Would you let me in then? What if I told you I'd be there? Would you know it was the truth? What if I told you I truly love you? Would you tell me the same back? What if I told you to stay with me? Would be with me until the end?

What if someone told you I died? Would you cry about me at night? What if I told you it'd be alright? Would you look up to the stars and believe it at night? What if I told you I was in love? Would you know it was you in the end? What if I told you I'd cry with out you? Would you never leave my side? What if I told you to believe me? Would you believe me? What if I told you I'd stay with you forever? Would you stay? What if I told you I hated you? Would you even believe me for a second? What would you do if I left your side? Would you want me back by your side? What if I.. What if I.. What if..

Four letters you’ve all heard it before use it everyday but do you really feel it listen and hear what I say cause it is something all should know by now it starts with that funny letter that’s merely twice a vowel and continues from there come everyone it should have been made clear by now I know it is true that you must have heard ending with a negative letter assessment just like a bird a part of everything no if’s, and’s, or but’s but maybe a yet, nor, or an or and all you must do is spell.

The people who have died with drugs in their systems are said to have all “died from their own habits” and their sudden tragic departure is therefore regarded to be “death catching up with them.” When people die from prescription drug overdose, on the other hand, it’s tragic. I don’t really see the difference. In a new century, prescription meds are replacing the D word, but they are just as much of a problem. Headline after headline…the stories of all the heroes, and the not so much heroes, who have succumbed to a deadly blend of chemicals disguised as medicine. One of the earliest examples would be the story of Anna Nicole Smith and her son Daniel. The biggest issue after the initial shock wore off was how these two got their hands on some of those concoctions; and what qualified physician would allow this to happen. That’s when the world lost their cherub, the thriving actor who was forecasted to be everything and more: Heath Ledger. Some could say he was overworked and not getting enough rest. Another interpretation is he misled doctors into giving him the medicine he wanted when he had no idea what he needed; or for that matter what he didn’t need. One more time it happened. We lost the brightest star in the sky, our King of Pop, Michael Jackson. When he has a request, you don’t refuse; and that’s just what happened to the doctor who administered the lethal doses of sedatives that caused the legend’s heart to stop. Not long after all of that, we lost the rising DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, to another deadly mix. And the list won’t stop anytime soon. There are many other notable names who have at one time been on drugs or prescription meds. Some who have kicked the habit through rehab, while some are just starting and keeping it undisclosed; but it’s only a matter of time before mortality catches up with them, too. The list of requirements seems pretty simple. If you have the right amount of money, you have access to any amount of ‘legal’ drugs that you could desire. These doctors will gladly accept your money and your ridiculous alias to write a prescription. How can such powerful sedatives be so loosely regulated? Once the prescriptions are in the hands of the client, there is no one to say when enough is enough. So many drug combinations have never been tested; those that have been tested are only reported to trained physicians. People feel very safe taking the drugs provided by a doctor than drugs from other sources. Addiction and accidental overdose is inevitable when someone gets used to feeling a certain way and their body reacts in a negative way.

The ARK Foundation is a great organization that is based on the ideology of building a ‘Better Quality of Life’, but could you explain a little more how this is achieved? We focus on several areas to obtain this. Starting with your financial security, we network you with individuals working together as a team to make sure you are successful. You will do the same for others. Next we offer education in areas that deal with real life. Financial, business networking, health, fitness, organization, efficiency, relationships, communication, etc… This arms you with the tools to conquer everyday tasks that you deal with in the real world. We also feel strongly that giving to the less fortunate is something we all should do. So, the A.R.K. Foundation and its members give to charitable organizations on a monthly basis. Economic stimulation is also a factor. We offer local business free advertising in exchange for a discount that is only available to our members. When you join The A.R.K. Foundation you have the opportunity to secure your financial future, save money, stimulate the economy, enhance your life, and the lives of others. How does this all work? You do what you do everyday. Network. But in our system you get paid. And we all network everyday. When you ate that last great steak at a new restaurant, you told someone. They went, they ate. You bought a shirt on sale, you told someone. They bought, they wore. You watched the best movie you’ve seen in a while, you told someone. They went, they watched. A couple of weeks later you received a check in the mail for the referrals from the restaurant, clothing store, and movie theatre, didn’t you? Well why shouldn’t you get paid for something you already do? It really is that simple. Just do what you already do and get paid. Earn yourself a six or even seven figure income. And do it proudly being a part of a Foundation that is based on the whole, and yet focused on the individual and not a money making product. We offer you the opportunity to be a part of a foundation based on you living a “Better Quality of Life!” What sort of person would be an ideal candidate for membership? Anyone that feels they aren't doing what they are meant to do. When you were a kid, what did you want to be? Was it a stockbroker, waiter, secretary, security guard, fry-cook, store manager. Don't get me wrong, if you're doing any of those things and you truly enjoy it, then you are a step ahead of most. If you enjoy what you do then you'll never work a day in your life. But, I don't know of any kid that has ever said those words while dreaming of what they would be when they grew up. It was more like an astronaut, fireman, movie star, or just explore the world and play. When's the last time you played? Life’s too short to be Cubicle-ized. Whether you’re very wealthy or struggling to make ends meet, if you feel that you aren't enjoying your life you may just be that person we’re looking for. What are the general terms of commitment when you apply for membership? One main term: Dedication To Quote Thomas Edison: “THE THREE THINGS THAT ARE MOST ESSENTIAL TO ACHIEVEMENT ARE COMMON SENSE,HARD WORK AND STICK-TO-IT-IV-NESS...” You can work our system to the level of comfort you want to achieve within our guidelines. Are you obligated to stay in for any specific length of time? No. You can choose to close your membership at anytime. Our whole goal is a Better Quality of Life. That is different for everyone. What are your means of communication between members? All the basics: phone, email, text, webinars, and video conferencing. But nothing replaces face to face interaction. Working together in groups always produces greater results.

Considering the base of the ARK Foundation is in San Antonio, TX, does this limit the growth possibilities? Not at all. We are based here because we live here. San Antonio is a large enough city to get the base of our business structured and secure to branch out to other cities in TX and eventually Nationwide. Do you have plans for multiple directors in the future to help the growth of the foundation? Yes. But our main focus at the moment is San Antonio. With access to multiple forms of communication including and especially the internet, we can develop new out of state branches and supply all the information and materials needed to create a successful business almost immediately. What sort of effect do you predict this will have when it comes to potential international members and clients? We've asked ourselves that very question. At the moment we don't have a clear answer. Varying countries have different laws and regulations. We'll have to take it one step at a time and conquer those boundaries when the time arises. “OUR MISSION IS TO HELP ALL PEOPLE GET OUT OF FINANCIAL TROUBLES, INCREASE THEIR NET WORTH, AND LIVE A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE Starting here in the greatest country in the world. AMERICA! What do you foresee in upcoming developments in the near future? Once the foundation grows large enough we will be funding our own hospital for people that have life threatening illnesses and can't afford to get the proper treatment they need.

A special thanks goes out to Charles Bailey for his time to answer our questions. A sentiment of respect goes out for all of his hard work and dedication into making the A.R.K. Foundation what it is today. For any further information or to address any questions, please contact the A.R.K. Foundation at the sources below. website: http://arkforlife.org phone: 210-725-8631 email: arkforlife@satx.rr.com

I was walking down the street last week, when I came upon my version of LL’s “Around the Way Girl” holding hands with Machismo B. Generic-Thug. Normally I would try and simply avert my eyes, but on that day I couldn’t bite my tongue hard enough. I approached them casually and said to him

One cannot gauge innovation. The definition of an invention is black and white; either it is or it isn’t. The disposition as an innovation is a bit more difficult to validate. The concept of innovation can be a new object, a new way of doing something, or simply a new way of thinking. In the days of Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler, no one was paying these guys to search and discover; they worked out of their own desire and inquisitiveness. They were not satisfied with the current beliefs and were driven by their own veracity. What company did Thomas Edison work for again? He worked for himself. Why did he have so many inventions? He was a great thinker who had plenty of time to make and do things better than they had been done before. He worked for his own satisfaction and as a result is the owner of his inventions. The trouble with new innovation today in America is the fact that it is all commercial driven. Everything is connected to some company or label or brand. The majority of new ideas and inventions are prepared under the supervision of a corporation; either as an employer or a sponsor. The only way for the corporation to get on board is if you can prove that it is marketable and will generate revenue. I do not believe that every good idea can be turned into dollars and cents.

The instructions to a good idea should not come printed on company letterhead. Policy at most companies is to give credit to the company and belittle the innovator. Why don’t we have purely electric cars? Why don’t we use the latest software and programs being designed? Because some company would rather get as much out of the old before they bring out the new. Where is the motivation to innovate? Everyday people are experiencing new things and having new ideas but few are being shared. When was the last time some crackpot in their basement, attic, or makeshift lab, invented something useful? One thing that remains the same is, when someone does have a new idea, it is not readily accepted nor supported. Too many people give up when no one is listening, and that’s a problem. The fact that there are so many new things being invented, we very easily overlook the fact that these new technologies are not innovative. They are simply a new variation or new label on the same thing. The companies operate on the basis of out selling the competition instead of promoting something new. Not enough are operating out of pure creativity. If I can only send one message away with this observation, it is to think outside the box, create outside the box and don’t say no to a good idea.

I recall being a child in grade school and being aware of such an enchanting book that I just had to have it. It fascinated me greatly. I had been awaiting the book fair for some time at school when finally the fliers were passed out in class. In eager anticipation, I immediately began searching through the flier trying to find the one…the one book that had been plaguing my mind. Sure enough, it would be there. The rest of the day, I sat watching the second hand awaiting the inevitable end of the day in which I would finally get to head home to request permission to buy such a book…Now I particularly needed approval as I had no money of my own, so I would need my mother to purchase it for me. Now as I sat on the bus on my journey home, oddly enough longer today than any other, I contemplated purchasing my book…the one I longed for. I don’t recall ever being quite so excited for none other than a book before in all my life…although I had been living it for only a while as again I emphasize that I was but only a child…Sitting on the bus, awaiting my arrival at my home eager to speak to my mother… although the ride seemed to go on for ever…all of the sudden it was over and home I was there… I ran off the bus and into the kitchen. I showed my mom the flier and explained that I was in need of such a book as this. I explained to my mom how this book so described horrific mass destruction in such a way that no written word could ever portray as though mere words were never to be seen again…oh the sadness of such a cruel fate yet the irony in which the story was to be told…I was so deeply fascinated. I was grateful once my mom explained that she would be giving me money to take with me to purchase my book. Once again, I had only to wait and be patient as that day would come, the day of the book fair, a glorious day as it would be the day I was to purchase this miraculous book….of course at the time, me not fully knowing the power of this great book nor fully grasping the severe necessity in me acquiring this particular book. So I waited….and waited…and continued to wait…as the days rolled on…once the day finally came upon me when I would set out to school as this day would be the day …finally I would have my book. A book full of knowledge and wonder and a marvelous tale like no other that would be so insightful and give me knowledge that still I had yet to understand just how useful and how important…So I got up and quickly got dressed and headed out for school. I sat on the bus and was so excited, yet somehow something just felt not right…I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but something just seemed to be missing. Once I arrived at school with my friends and began speaking with them about the book fair as I was excited and eager…within the conversation, it hit me…I had left my money at home. I was concerned as I had to have this book…I just knew I did…I went to the office and made an

urgent phone call to my mother and explained the situation and to my surprise she was very understanding to my forgetfulness and said she was on her way with the money. I had been called down to the office a while later and received an envelope in which my mom had placed the money for me along with the flier on which she had circled the book so I would more easily be able to find it. I then again had to wait…I began to become engulfed with patience as I was grateful for the fate that I felt must have it for me to have this book. I awaited the end of the day when I would go to the book fair. I ran down the hall with the envelope in one hand and the flier in the other. I began searching the shelves…I found book after book that was in the flier, yet not a one was the book I so eagerly sought. I continued searching and knowing I was taking quite a long time as all my friends from class had retrieved their books, purchased them, and already made their way back to the class room, I began to think it might be coming to a point of which the teacher may come after me. I was correct in thinking so as I recall another student coming to look for me and I explained I had to find my book. I then took it upon myself to speak with one of the ladies at the book fair and ask her if she could assist me in locating my book; she looked and looked. She explained that she did not know this book and couldn’t find it. We looked it up by genre and by the numbered code from the flier; we found nothing…She went on to ask another lady there…we got the same response from her…It was as if this book didn’t exist because neither of them had ever even heard of such a book nor was there an empty spot where the book should be catalogued or stocked…It just didn’t appear to be there at all. This particularly bothered me but I figured that since fate apparently wanted me to have this book; I could easily explain this to my mom and maybe we could purchase it another time. So of course this is what I do…or at least, that was my plan…I tried again and again to look for my book and again and again …no one heard of such a book…How could this be that no one knows the book I so desperately seek…Years go by and my search continues… Every year I awaited the book fair in efforts to search for this book, but of course this book was never again even on the flier…then I looked in book stores and still no sign of it anywhere…I spoke with friends and still no luck…many of them didn’t even seem interested…not in the slightest after speaking with them about the plot. Of course there were some that took an interest, yet still no dice…they had no idea where to find it or how I could get it…Years later as an adult, I have came across a few who have told me how certain they were that I must read it as I would surely love it, but of course they would not have a copy nor would they know of where to find such a copy… I have checked online but it has been some time since the last time I checked as I had become slightly discouraged the last time I had searched and came up snake eyes… So now once again…the urge has returned and I must go out and find my book… this is a journey …No, not a journey…A quest…..a quest for the book that fate bestowed I must hold in my hands yet somehow although fate constantly leading me towards it… something continues to fight it and keep it from me… I believe that this book that has been prevented from my eyes and fingertips must hold a deeper truth that somehow over the years has been kept from me in efforts of the masses to keep me from the inevitable knowledge, powerful beyond my own comprehension, that shall change things forever…

Crash & Burn’s Official

Hot List Now there are many magazines that have Hot & Not lists, but this one is different. Just so you know, we focus on the HOT and not so much on the not. All else is left up to your own sentiment. Everyday in America, we glorify people for their beauty but sometimes people are over looked or just not given enough credit. Semi Precious Weapons – Haven’t you heard?

They are bigger and better than ever. They have a new CD, a major record deal, and hoards of adoring fans. We love them and they love us back. They can never get enough love and attention and will love you back, too. Did I mention they are also freakin’ gorgeous?

Quentin Tarantino – Over the few decades that he has been in the business, Tarantino’s movies have always gotten better and better. In fact, his name often comes before the movie title; “Tarantino presents…” Unlike other writers and directors, he has been and hopefully always will be about quality over quantity. His actor choices are always perfect for his roles and he is loyal to those who have gotten him to where he is today. Much Respect.

Gerard Way – This sexy son of a gun just doesn’t quit.

As front man of My Chemical Romance, Gerard has really established himself in the minds of the music world. Even more spectacular are his artistic abilities. After attending art school, he aspired to be a comic book maker. He diverted his efforts for a while into his music and his band, but recently returned to comics and released a series only a few years ago. Keep a look out for the newest album from My Chemical Romance; due out later this spring!

Angelina Jolie – The beautiful, the magnificent, the only Angelina Jolie.

She is one hot momma. Many of her critics are angry for the wrong reasons. Some are just jealous of her success. Some believe that she is fake. She is a great humanitarian. She is not doing things just for the sake of her image, it’s because she is passionate. Her acting skills are beyond awesome and you can’t make that up; just look at her list of awards and nominations.

Papa Murphy’s Pizza – This chain of take-n-bake pizzas has been around since 1981, but we just found them very recently. We were delightfully impressed. The choice of toppings was vast and all of the ingredients were fresh. The pizza is always as hot as you want it because you cook it yourself.

The nurse left the hospital a few minutes shy of five o'clock. She sat on the bus bench and tried to light her cigarette, but the wind played invisible protector and whipped the flame of her dollar store lighter into the pre-dawn sky. She couldn't give up though. The buses wouldn't start running for thirty minutes. What else to do but pass the time with this vice? Her name is Rachel. As long as the bus wasn't late, she could make sure Roddy hadn't stayed up too late on the computer. If he had, she would have to wake him and Crystal up and, depending on how late it was, she might have time to cook them breakfast. This morning turns out to have a pleasant surprise. The kids are dressed and fed, and ready to catch the bus. Kisses, hugs, and have-a-good-days are exchanged. She eats the remainder of a skillet of eggs, draws the curtains, and passes out to the morning traffic report. After not enough sleep, Rachel calls her brother Manny again about that extra car he has parked at his house. Manny once again tells her about how money comes between family. Keep taking the bus. She makes the trek up to the grocery store on foot. It’s good exercise and saves the bus fare. Knowing the kids will cook most of their own meals until her schedule changes again, Rachel spends an unheard of amount of time searching the shelves for the most economical products that aren’t loaded with high fructose corn syrup and saturated fat. She gets in the check out line and tries not to be too embarrassed when she realizes she did her math wrong, and has to put some things back. She rushes home to meet the kids after school. They argue about clothes and test grades, about electric bills and untrustworthy friends. She helps them with their homework and cooks dinner. She asks them to do the dishes but, after her reasons for living stare in the opposite direction and say nothing, she caves and ends up doing them herself. She tells them she loves them and returns to a bus bench to begin the cycle anew. Rachel’s kids will one day fully comprehend what the unexpected customers of her emergency room already know: this is an angel in scrubs. She deserves to find her starry knight, but she has no time for love. It doesn't matter anyway. She wouldn't know where to begin finding a descent man who'll give her the respect she deserves, and give the kids the love they need… This is the story I tell myself every morning while trying to work up the courage to talk to her. I sit on a bench on the opposite side of the street, going the other way. We exchange our polite nods of recognition and avoid looking at each other for the remainder of the wait. I put my earphones in and turn the music up to drown out the sound of the chirping birds. Their cheerful song mocks me for another day of my inaction.

Everyday you come in contact with chemicals that you’ve never heard of and some that you can’t pronounce. Each issue will feature a commonly used chemical or chemicals found in food and beverages, cleaners, and cosmetics. I can tell you a little bit about the chemical itself and what it is used for in an average person’s life.

Formaldehyde, most commonly associated with death, is in fact used in the preservation of a human corpse, but that is not the only use for it. There are many industrial uses including the treatment of wood or wood products and in other materials like clothing, draperies, textiles, paints, and glue. It can also be found in certain household products; for example, some furniture polish. Formaldehyde has a number of natural sources in which it is produced; however, most of the chemical that is used for industrial use is synthesized in a lab. The chemical can be identified as being a strong-smelling, colorless gas. It is flammable so care must be taken around it. Formaldehyde is also released from the combustion of certain materials including but not limited to cigarettes. In addition to being flammable, there are several other health risks associated with exposure to formaldehyde. It has been shown cause cancer in lab tests and is capable of damaging DNA. The chemical can lead to humans developing an allergic effect; in turn it can cause asthma and depress the nervous system. Being around it can have side effects such as joint pain or fatigue, even headaches, dizziness, and depression. Contact with the chemical can cause burning sensations in the eyes, nose, and throat. On the other hand, formaldehyde occurs naturally in the body, but only in small amounts.

Not Important

by Mia Harms

Movies are deep. People are flakes. Our faults, are not our own. Everyone steals everything from everyone else. New is old. New is future. But new is old. Wisdom is not power, it is just empowering. Talents are impressive. Meanings are lost. Doing is in. Analyzing is out. Dreaming is real. Sleeping is living, without knowing. I am soooooo bored.

enemy of the state In today’s society, the plot is not nearly as scary as it was over a decade ago when it was made. It is entirely possible that it is already happening. Once you start watching, there is no pause and remains fast paced all the way thorough.
