Robert Ingersell once said, “Music expresses feeling and thought, without language; it is below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words.” In the 21st century we see art in many different forms but one of the more popular forms we see is music. We have seen major genres rise and fall throughout time as artists attempt to conform to society, but the purpose of music, which is to inform and entertain, has never changed. Artists attempt to expose issues to the world, whether it is new artists, such as Lady Gaga, who emphasize eccentric performance art and individuality, or veteran artists, such as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who revolutionized music by taking a step into other cultures and presenting them to the world. These days, we download songs in seconds through different programs such as iTunes and YouTube. We can listen to songs that were made half way around the world. We have the power to access songs that were made a hundred years ago during times of war and peace, giving us a small glimpse of their time. We can listen to their story and gain an understanding of their lifestyle, their dreams, and their passions. Through the notes and melodies, where words cannot explain, we can feel their joy and pain. Musical artists are able to capture their moment in time and now, with the use of technology, the world can hear their story. We hear the different instruments of their culture, which may no longer exist. Unlimited access to music allows us to listen to the ever changing world and its roots. From each song in history, we hear of individuals and their abuse, their courage, and friendships, all in their own way unique. Through their message, deep within the lyrics and melodies, we are able to educate ourselves on ways of improving the world around us. After deciphering their message, we find new ways of connecting with the artist. This relation often motivates us to bring change to our college, community, and the world. We are able to inform ourselves on issues through the perspective of the individual. Usually meant as a form of entertainment, music continues to inform the public on issues in our world. Music continues to preserve culture and history while continuing to be, in the words of Henry Wordsworth Longfellow, “the universal language of mankind.”

You see, texting is a simple yet complicated, instant yet prolonged method of communicating. It’s great for short messages and reminders. However, texting is not real conversation. There is too much thinking involved and not enough emotion. Unfortunately, everyone is not that witty. Emoticons help, but can never replace true facial expressions, hand gestures, tone of voice, short pauses, long pauses, and most of all, inflections. These black and white conversations continue in this way to the point that you aren’t even talking to the actual person but the imagination of that person. Obviously, that will teach you nothing about the person on the other end of the phone. Even so, texting has become a predominant form of communication. The socially gifted will carry on a conversation with everyone, those on the phone and those in person. The socially inept can finally say something without the daunting eye contact. When you receive a text, you are given the illusion that you have someone’s exclusive attention. When in reality, you don’t, but hey, you aren’t giving them your sole attention either. Getting a text is instantly gratifying. It doesn’t matter from whom and for what; that small chime, patterned vibration, and blinking light that indicate a message means you are important. If you don’t believe me, I’ll prove it. Just wait, with the enhancements of technology and automation, one day our phones will be hardwired into our lifeline. At the moment that my heart stops beating expect a text; you will be instantly gratified that you were the first to know I’m dead.
I'm a 21 (22 next month) year old Canadian female. I grew up in Victoria, BC although frequently travel to Vancouver and also lived there for a year to attend College and try to boost my modeling/acting career. I started modeling about 4 years ago with little expectations. For me, it was just a hobby more than anything and I never expected it to turn out the way it has. I specialize in glamour, fetish, nude, pinup as well as promotional modeling. Aside from modeling, I also enjoy acting (on screen), dancing and playing guitar. I do love the arts but I also love sciences! Some of my biggest interests include neuroplasticity, sensory substitution and psychology. I'm fascinated with neuroscience and how adaptable the brain can be. I pride the fact that I enjoy to read and learn. I'm always looking up topics on google news that I'm interested in to read the latest research and studies done. One of my goals is to attend University to become a Registered Nurse, possible in psychiatric or intensive care. My number one favorite thing in life is helping people, and I've always felt Nursing was a job I would suit well. For the time being, I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and expecting my first child, a baby girl! Due April 16th. Being a young mom will be one of the hardest challenges I'll have to face, but one that I know will make me even stronger in the end. Thanks for listening! Sincerely, Nicole Baldwin (Modeling alias Ava Jean)
“Celebrate Every Day” I notice every year the holidays being more about money, spending, gifts, and people trying to out do each other. I’ve always tried to show my family it’s so much more. To us it’s always about Jesus’ birthday which means showing love, being thankful for our life and family. Being together with our loved ones is important. It doesn’t matter where we are or what we eat. And the gifts are to show love; they are not even necessary. It’s very nice to give to show you care. And you know it shouldn’t be just holidays that we show each other we care; it should be everyday of our life. Don’t treat your sweetheart special only on Valentine’s Day or be nice to Mom or Dad only on Mother’s Day & Father’s Day. These are just examples. After the holidays pass, sometimes we forget and go back to our regular lives and neglect our special loved ones. Don’t let this happen. You or the special people in your life might not be here for the next holiday. Treat everyday like your last.
Sincerely, The Frosted Flake

Girl, you are nothing short of AWESOME! I see it far too often that you get disregarded and dismissed. I think even your fans sometimes don’t see or appreciate your brilliance…your out right artistic expression. Born This Way should have been an anthem for all those out there have ever felt as thought they don’t belong. It should have been an anthem sung loud and proud for all those to feel as though they fit in even for that mere moment. I know people who have listened and can’t seem to appreciate what you have laid down…I want to start by saying I do…I feel the power and conviction in your voice as you belt out each note. It is tasteful… intelligent…nurturing….and beautiful. There are many things that you have done in your own artistic way that many have found fault as they feel it a matter of taste and yours they find lacking…although, I find that to be sad, to each his own. This is not one of those as it is completely within anyone’s realm of tasteful on any moral, sexual, or even artistic standard. This is something that although you admit by your own words flowed from you in a matter of mere minutes and you felt as though it was just something that had to be said, it was well thought out and highly intelligent. (for those who didn’t quite get it…she was using a 4-4 which is yes the same as Madonna’s and also the same as about 492 other songs that came out in the 80’s and 90’s which is what makes the tempo so intelligent…its what works) You brought back a dance beat that hasn’t been as popular in years now…paying homage to an era in which the amazing Madonna wrecked house. Much love and respect to both you and Madonna! I love you both! It is nurturing as it is feeding the fire that burns in all these young people’s souls to be something different from the rest of the crowd even though they are scared to do so. Many times in society, parents tell their children to try to fit in…don’t rock the boat…it causes less problems this way. That is terrible…get out their and rock the boat already. Children today need more people telling them that it is okay to be different and it is okay to think that you’re amazing just the way you are. It is also okay to believe that God made you the way you are because He did! It is sad that we have to continue to remind people of this. And it was just an all around beautiful piece. You are truly amazing, and I love you just the way you are!
I find it particularly interesting that there are so many fundamental Christians that are bashing your music, yet they listen to it in order to bash it…hypocrites. The reality is that they don’t need to listen if they don’t want to. Those who bashed you for Judas and said it was blasphemous…How would they know how blasphemous it was if they hadn’t sat there and watched it…Also, I know you are a woman of faith…and don’t you find it particularly interesting how quick they are to cast the first stone…just how quick they are to judge although while passing judgment on you they spout words from the Bible, yet forget the words in the Bible that state that passing judgment is a sin and all sins are equal in the eyes of God. These are just more thoughts of mine. I found your portrayal of Jesus and his disciples in Judas to be your own form of expression and you paid tribute to your faith with your artistic talents in your own way, God made you that way.
GaGa, Much Love and Respect, girl! Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t let the haters and the hypocrites get you down. You live according to your faith and make your peace with God!
Lots of Love,

They are little Angels and Blessings;
NOT PROPERTY! “Abuse.” A terrible thing at any age. But Child Abuse! How does that ever happen or exist? Child abuse comes in many different forms. For instance: physical and emotional, both are intolerable. A lot of the emotional abuse is disregarded and not believed to be abuse but can affect babies and children all the way into adulthood, even a lifetime. Calling a child names such as chubby, shrimp, stupid, fat, klutz, etc. aren’t always meant mean but they are. Kids do that to each other enough, adults shouldn’t be. Dumb, lazy, making fun in any way is abuse. Our children are fragile in spirit, confidence, you should always think about what you say and how you talk, teach, and joke with them; their little hearts are hurt so easily. Being an abused child I can tell a little from experience and working with children. The things you say or get kids to believe can last forever. I grew up thinking that all the bad that happened was my fault. One thing I remember is everyone had fun and things were great when I wasn’t around. But I was blamed for things even when I wasn’t around. Then there’s making fun of me, being called a liar. I was called stupid, lazy, black sheep, problem child. Was told in front of people my body wasn’t shaped right. These were just a few. Being made fun of and laughed at by peers; that’s rough. But when it’s family members, I can’t explain the hurt. I was told I was beautiful but stupid – so what was important to me was being smart. These are a few that still affect me.
Then there’s locking kids in their rooms or basements. Putting children in closets. These things happen to children of all ages, infants and up. The ones that can talk are either threatened; scared to tell or believe this is how it is supposed to be. Or that they deserve it. There is also brainwashing to a point. Then there’s physical beatings, hitting, sometimes with anything around to grab and use as a weapon. Kicking kids out at very young ages with no place to go. The younger they are the more scared even to make a child think they are alone. I was thrown out once at 14 for 4 days. It was so traumatizing and scary on the streets alone. Imagine a little one, even 15 minutes would be horrible. It can cause all kinds of lifetime fears and problems. I’ve been hit and beat with extension cords, yard sticks, broken wire, batons, wood cooking utensils, anything in reach. There is also sexual abuse. As young as infants. I thought my abuse started about 3 years but now I’m finding out sooner. Even at 21 I was abused when I met my biological father. If a parent abuses you at one age you are still their child. We’ve all heard of child abuse over the edge. Locking kids in the basement for years away from everyone. But what we don’t think about enough is the repercussions to the child. You can’t tease a child. Just a few of my hang-ups because of abuse are: Scared of the dark Claustrophobic Scared of heights Being sorry for everything Feeling stupid Having to fix every problem Everything’s my fault Very low self-esteem I was also raped in my teens and had no one to tell because I would just be told it’s my fault it happened. These are a few of my experiences, a few of others. Children can’t be left in cars alone, or put outside to play without supervision even in a fenced yard. Children have been stolen like that. When my kids were toddlers, a 5 year old was playing alone in his fenced in yard and disappeared. A little girl playing in her front yard fence was found dead. She fell and hit her head on the sidewalk. When the mother checked after about 10 minutes, it was too late. There has been children walking to school or a friend’s just a block or 2 away disappear. Kids shouldn’t be sent to walk when they are young doing things for their parents. Kids can be affected and traumatized for life because of abuse.
It’s surprising how many adults have been molested, beaten, raped, made fun of about weight or anything as kids and it has caused problems for them their whole lives. It’s not an excuse, it really happens. And it’s sad that so many people think it happened so long ago so let it go, forget about it. Well, like I said, it has an affect on you in some way your whole life. Two common things, it can make the abused the abuser. On the other hand, it can make the abused become a doormat in their future, taking whatever abuse and crap that is thrown at them, and believing they deserve it and that it’s their fault. The latter, I relate to and recognizing it helps; it doesn’t change those feelings. I still flinch or dodge out of reflex when someone raises their hand too quick or sometimes I have a flashback to quick movements. I can’t help it. Like I said – a lifetime. And that’s just a small effect. Some of the abused, molested, and raped have repressed these horrific, painful, and traumatizing events in our childhood to be able to function. But some of the events we can’t repress. Some are stuffed away for years. Things can trigger these and pull them to your memory. And sometimes it’s just time to be remembered. These memories are as painful now as when it happened, sometimes worse to have to relive. Having someone to believe you is most important. It’s hard enough to tell someone but to be called a liar after what you going through! Kids don’t lie about this kind of thing – I should say it’s rare. Young children don’t know enough to lie about sexual things. I would believe a child over a grown-up any day. A lot of abusers have been the abused. We need to break the chain of abuse. And be there for our kids and adults kids of abuse. Moms, Dads, relatives or friends, even strangers, Protect our children. There is no perfect parent. All parents make mistakes. But learn through your mistakes, help others, and parent with Love and common sense. Babies and children can die because of simple mistakes and you don’t get another chance.
Don’t have children if you are not ready to forget about yourself and put them first. It seems like a lot of the females that don’t want kids have the most and they want to still be first so they neglect their kids. We don’t need more children having children. We should do whatever we need to do for ourselves before we make a family. And if you want it to always be about you – Don’t have kids. You can’t be selfish and be a good parent. Our children need to be priority, And if you find out a child is being abused do everything you can to protect them because it is all of OUR business, all of our job, and all of our responsibility to speak up and protect them, help be their voice and strength to let them know no one should be abused, there is no reason ever. Our children are our future adults and abuse stays for a lifetime.
My heart goes out to the abused children and the adults that were abused as children. We can stop this!
God Bless Us All.

Crash’s pick
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the lost ark This is a classic that never gets old. It is truly timeless...The brilliance of Speilberg & Lucas together with Harrison Ford leading the cast. You should definitely pull it out of the cabinet, borrow it from a friend, rent it, buy it, steal it...No don’t steal it...but you should watch it to relive a piece of cinematic history. Enjoy!
Burn’s pick inception
The sheer impossibleness of Inception only amplifies the movie’s awesomeness. Even with so many unanswered questions, you will enjoy the ride. I think, when a movie leaves you asking questions, it’s because they hooked you not because they duped you.
Frosty’S pick Blind side
It is a good family movie and a must see. It is a movie that shows love has no boundaries ...and no color. The love in this movie should be an example to the world. If we all helped each other this way, there wouldn’t be as many problems.

my scary story by Princess Two kids are living in a brand new home, it was just built. They don’t like their new home. They want to move out. They asked their parents if they could move. Their parents said that they just moved and the house is brand new. The kids were both teenagers. They explained the reason why they wanted to move. Their parents said fine that they will move. They will move in three days. When the kids have left the room the parents had a discussion about this whole situation. They said teenagers, they think they need everything they want. They don’t listen to their parents. The family started to re pack things and the dad went to go get a u-haul. They packed their things and hit the road. Once they got there, they saw some crazy things. The night they moved they saw shadows. They did not see people or creatures all they saw was shadows. They looked at who lived there before them. They looked and a little girl named Sara and she died in the pool when she was seven years old. She died in 1990 and it is 2004 today. They also saw that a little boy named Jacob died in the street while not paying attention crossing the street. They also saw that the parents that lived there before them died they died two days after the little girl, Sara. The mom was the last one to die. the dad died in a car crash. They tried to see if that was the shadows that they saw. They started staying together after a few months. They started hearing voices. They eventually started to make reports about the house. Then they eventually got the spirits out with the help of god.
Princess Paranormal Activity It can really happen so watch out for demons and scary creatures! If you watch this you will begin the fear. You might want to get your feet up for this one. I hope you enjoy the movie!!!
