Water Resources Strategy and Management Tools Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company, UK
Key Project Elements • Review of Drivers for Water Resources Management • Identification of Stakeholder Concerns • Benchmarking of Competitors • Strategy Briefing • Development of Water Resources Management Toolkit
CRA supported a major multi-national oil and gas exploration and production company in developing its strategy for water resources management. The client was conscious of growing stakeholder interest in water resources management and water scarcity, especially in areas of the world where water resources are stressed. CRA’s role was to help the company understand the nature of current and emerging drivers for water resources management from investors, NGOs, governments and other interested parties. A key element of the project was to review new and developing procedures and guidance for addressing water scarcity, including water footprinting and disclosure. This included evaluating the potential application of or conformance to the Carbon Disclosure Project Water Disclosure, the CEO Water Mandate, IFC EH&S Guidelines, and sector agreements and initiatives. CRA undertook a review of water resources issues in the areas where the company is or will be operating, to identify specific water scarcity or other water resources management issues of concern, as a precursor to developing operating plans to minimise impacts. CRA also developed a management toolkit to aid addressing water resources management in decision-making at all project lifecycle stages and to provide the basis for reporting on water resources initiatives and performance.
