CRA is providing continuous data management support for one of the leading independently owned oil and gas exploration companies. Services provided by CRA include development of a data collection tool, review of data submitted by the country operations, collation of data, evaluation of environmental performance in comparison with previous reporting years, support during third party verification of reported data and support in development of an online database system. CRA developed a data collection tool for a wide range of environmental KPI data including production (for normalisation), consumption of various fuels, water consumption from different sources flaring, venting, waste generation, spills, produced water, oil in produced water, drill cuttings, drilling mud and biodiversity. The tool provides separate input interfaces for a producing site, drilling site and a seismic exploration location. The tool collates the data in the desired format and units, and generates a country report. It also calculates GHG emissions from the fuel consumption data. All conversion and emission factors are sourced from reliable industry standards (i.e. OGP, IPECA, DECC, GHG Protocol, etc.) and references are provided within the tool to these sources. The reported environmental data is evaluated by combining all the country reports into an aggregate workbook and comparing the environmental performance of each country, as well as worldwide, with the previous year. Any variations above or below 10% are highlighted and the justification for the variation is identified and noted. CRA also provides support during third party verification of the data, prior to it being published in annual financial and corporate responsibility reports. In addition to the above, CRA provided support in the development of an online database management and user input interface.
