 Evaluation of Water Treatment Technologies

Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (CRA) teamed with PacWest Consulting Partners (PacWest) to conduct pre-acquisition due diligence market research for a confidential client. The client’s objective was to become established in the gas shale water management market through acquisition of a growing water treatment technology and/or services vendor. CRA provided technical assistance to PacWest, and PacWest searched commercially-available business databases to identify potential acquisition candidates. CRA assisted PacWest through a phased evaluation process to initially screen and identify potential acquisition candidate companies, followed by a progressively focused evaluation of screened candidates with increased investigation and data collection. CRA provided technical guidance to PacWest and provided supporting data to augment information independently collected by PacWest. CRA conducted independent online data searches, created confidential data sets of relevant industry performance based on related historical project information, developed statistical evaluation summaries and assisted PacWest in development of ranking criteria for evaluation of potential acquisition candidates. Through each evaluation phase, CRA supported PacWest with identification of information gaps, assistance with supplemental data collection, comparison of potential acquisition candidate performance metrics to applicable selection criteria, and identification of potential candidates that warrant further consideration. CRA also provided similar information collection and evaluation assistance to identify and assess potential business market opportunities for the confidential client to consider in its business model.

PacWest notified CRA upon project completion that the confidential client was very satisfied with the level of scrutiny employed by PacWest and CRA to evaluate and identify potential acquisition candidates and potential business market sectors in which to participate. PacWest has since worked with CRA on a number of other projects, as a result of the positive outcome of this initial cooperative venture.
