It is next to impossible to go through a round ofgolf without finding yourselfin one ofthese bunkers. The runoffs in front ofthe greens will feed any ball that is
Proper Set-up Execute the Shot
1 Dig your feet into the sand to get a feel for how firm or soft the particular bunker is playing.
2 Ball position inside the lead foot (in line with left heal for a right-handed golfer). This will help the golfer to hit the sand first, versus the ball!
3 Create a wide stance, creating more ofa squat position. Helps create stability during the swing.
4 Open the clubface to utilize the bounce ofthe club vs.the leading edge.Using the bounce creates less “dig”in the sand.
5 Grip is in a neutral position.Avoid forward pressing the grip which lowers the loft ofthe club.
1 Create a takeaway that is steeper, player should feel that they are “hinging”the wrists to get the club elevated.
2 Maintain the clubface in an open position throughout the swing! Ifthe clubface closes through impact,it will take too much sand while reducing the loft ofthe club. This combination will lead to another shot from the sand!
3 Match the length ofyour back swing and follow through! However far you take the club on the takeaway, swing it the same distance on the follow through.
4 Swing the club with the same tempo, back and through. A feeling ofgradual acceleration to impact.
5 Strike the sand first and follow through!
