Our Goole chatted to Phillip Parkin from Parkin Family Butchers who were crowned the winners of the Marketing Excellence Award. The winner of this award had to show they’d developed and implemented an innovative marketing strategy to achieve a measureable impact on business

Parkin Family Butchers is a small family run business in the heart of Howden town centre, which takes pride on its customer relations, some of which are 3rd/4th generations of the same family.

The butchers like to supply locally sourced meat, poultry and game with a personal, friendly service.

When was the business set up?

Myself and Marie have run the business for 16 years taking over from my parents who had it for over 35 years but it has been a butcher’s shop for more than 150 years.

What services do you provide?

We provide a hands-on quality personal service.

What makes you proud of your business?

We are very proud that we are keeping the business thriving in these modern times against tough competition from the likes of the supermarkets.

Did you enjoy your night at the awards?

We thoroughly enjoyed the awards night. It was a lovely evening with a great atmosphere.

How did it feel to win Marketing Excellence Award?

We were well chuffed and totally blown away when they announced we’d won, especially as we were up against some top competition.

What are your plans for the upcoming year?

With the crises the country is in at the moment, surviving the next few months will see priority given to our loyal customers but in the long run, continue what we do best - serving local meat to the best of our ability and promoting the high street butchers.

And in these past few months, Parkin Family Butchers has kept open supplying the community with a variety of meats and baked goods, all fresh and locally sourced.
