Garfield Park Conservatory Elizabeth Morse Genius Children’s Garden Master Plan

Hitchcock Design Group and Redbox Workshop collaborated with the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance and the Chicago Park District to redesign the existing indoor children’s garden and create a more interactive experience with nature and plants. The design process was facilitated through visioning workshops and several meetings with the project team.

Play structures in the garden were designed to invite children to explore as researchers and scientists. They begin their expedition at a base camp for orientation and launch into the garden to explore all facets of this tropical environment from beneath the surface and above the canopy with the goal of making visitors more aware of plants and their relationships to us.
