Park #512 (Walsh Park Expansion)

Park #512 (Walsh Park Expansion) is located in Bucktown at the eastern trailhead of The 606, a heavily trafficked, world-class elevated trail and park that connects Humbolt Park and Bucktown. The design program includes a dynamic adventure play environment, spray feature, outdoor fitness equipment, gathering space, pathways, landscape, and lighting improvements. The expansion builds on the aesthetics of The 606 while integrating the unique qualities of the site and character of the surrounding community.

This was a great opportunity to develop a familyfriendly environment that is engaging, attractive, safe, and accessible for children and families of all abilities. Construction was financed in part through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant Program.
