Gateway at 159th Street & Interstate 355

The I-355 bridge at 159th Street is a pivotal entry into Lockport and a primary access point for residents and visitors. The existing bridge at this site is a simple, standard beam structure with minor aesthetic improvements that are consistent with other bridges in the overall I-355 corridor but not specific to Lockport.

Hitchcock Design Group prepared a series of preliminary concepts to study a wide range of possible improvement types at varying levels of investment, including how the structure could look at night with enhanced lighting elements. These concepts helped identify the priority improvements that balanced cost and aesthetics and reinforced the brand.
