AWARDS PRESENTED BY EVE MUIRHEAD A World Champion and Olympic Medallist, Eve is a remarkable young athlete who skipped the GB curling team at the Vancouver Olympics at the tender age of 19. When Team Muirhead won the bronze medal in 2014, they were the youngest team to ever take home an Olympic medal. She represents and excels in all things Scottish; she is a world class curler, champion piper and a scratch golfer.

Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin KCB CBE After a 35 year career in the British Army, Alistair Irwin has been closely involved in veterans affairs, chiefly in Scotland but also more widely. National President of Legion Scotland and of Poppy Scotland he is a member of the Scottish Government’s WW1 Commemoration Advisory Panel. Chief Consultant of Character Scotland David is Chief Consultant of Character Scotland and creator of the inspire>aspire Awards having originally developed the format in 2006. Since then the awards programme has gone from strength to strength reaching many thousands of young people in schools across the UK and further afield. David was Scottish and British Universities 3000m Steeplechase Champion in 1972.

We have been piloting a new project ‘WW1: Inspiring Purpose’ with a small number of schools to mark the centenary commemorations of the First World War and provide a new opportunity for personal development and selfdiscovery. The pupils below will receive an award for their exceptional work and their posters are on display in the Hunter Hall poster exhibition.

‘The Thank You Film Awards, run by the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham, is a national competition exploring what young people are grateful for. Over 100 films were submitted to the competition and those shortlisted invited to an award ceremony.’
