BINGLEY GRAMMAR SCHOOL SIXTH FORM
One Sixth Form... Unique Individual Valued
The Sixth Form is a community that we want everyone to be a part of, can actively contribute to, feel included in and take responsibility for. Our shared core purposes are to ensure that we maximise student learning, student experience and student support. We believe that these purposes exist so that students can be the best they can be. We want you to learn well, both inside and outside the classroom, gain positive experiences and feel supported during your time here and in your aspirations for the future.
Welcome... The next few years are going to be exciting, challenging and ultimately rewarding. We work very hard to make sure we give you the best education that we can provide. We have a long tradition of excellent examination results with students achieving high levels of attainment and progress. Students are respected as individuals and are encouraged to make the transition into young adults with increased independence. We have high expectations for all who study with us and we are passionate about providing exceptional support to help you achieve. Thank you for your interest in Bingley Grammar School Sixth Form, and I hope that this prospectus provides you enough information to help you make an informed choice for your future education. We look forward to meeting you...

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English Language, are required. AS subjects require a B or above in the subject at GCSE (for subjects not offered in Year 11, eg Sociology, a B in English Language is required). Grade C will be considered in some cases, though this is in negotiation with the Head of Faculty. However, some subjects do have additional requirements – details are available at our Guidance Evening and from the Bingley Grammar School website.

Pathways to Success Bingley Grammar School Sixth Form is a Sixth Form which prides itself on promoting ambition and aspiration. We continually improve our sixth form to allow our students to be as good as they can be and better! We have a culture of positivity, challenge and hard work. We promote success at all levels. Courses in the Sixth Form require a high level of intellectual ability and commitment to work; it is paramount that students select courses that are appropriate for their ability. A good guide to identify the most suitable pathway is to use the GCSE average point score (APS) system. This gives a true reflection of the students’ current ability and has proved a reliable tool in deciding on the correct courses.

Support and Facilites Sixth Form life at Bingley centres around The Hills, the Sixth Form building. Here there is a Bistro which provides meals and snacks exclusively for sixth form students. There is also a Common Room where students are able to socialise during their free time, plus two dedicated ICT rooms where students can work during their Private Study Sessions. The Director of Sixth Form and the Sixth Form Team are based in The Hills, so advice is always readily at hand. The main school library also has a dedicated sixth form study area. Students are supported and advised whatever their aspirations after sixth form. We have an Independent Careers Advisor who is based at the school and can provide up-to-date careers information.
Many of our students go on to higher education and we have a full HE Support Programme to reflect this... In the Spring of Year 12 students and parents are invited to attend an Options at 18 Evening; information about the difference routes open to students, and details of how the school supports the university application process, will be outlined at this event. Our Year 12 Progress Week takes place in July – visiting speakers provide a varied programme and our UCAS Application Sessions provide students with the opportunity to begin their university application in a supported environment.
Enrichment Here at Bingley Grammar School we believe that success is not only measured by the grades you achieve but by the skills and attributes that you gain along the way. To support this process we offer a broad and vibrant enrichment programme designed to develop our Sixth From students. As part of the ‘contract’ of joining our Sixth Form we insist that every student should utilise the opportunities available, gain wider experiences and create an enrichment portfolio.
