Kids can say some of the most hilarious things. They tend to not have filters and are not afraid to speak their minds. Their brains are like little sponges that soak up the world around them, and sometimes it spews back out at the most random times. That has caused many parents to be left with funny and embarrassing tales to share with the world. So, we wanted to know “What has your kid said lately that made you laugh?” “I had my son with me at Walgreens and I was picking up feminine hygiene products. While sitting there choosing which ones I needed my son blurts out loud, “What’s this mom? Band-Aids?” The few shoppers around us giggled. I said, ‘yeah, you can call it that.’” -Christina R. “At my Mother in Law’s funeral my son looked around and said, ‘wow there's a lot of customers in here’. You're not wrong kid” – Jackie H. “
My daughter (3) had me pull up her pants and got mad when I pulled them to her belly button, she said ‘You don't have to pull them up that high cause I'm not fat! Only mom is fat’.” -Brittany H. “I hear my girls talking in the car about random things and my youngest daughter Talia asked her sister, ‘Do ghost have feet?’” -Claressa B.
“

“We went to the museum the other weekend and my 6 year old came out of the bathroom and very loudly says....’whew! That was a spicy meatball!’ The lady at the front desk about choked on her water.” – Brandy S. While in the TSA line, my kid says ‘Hey Mom, How much stuff do you think a rocket launcher could blow up?’” - Kate H.
“Lord, I could write a book between my 3 kids...in fact, two days ago my 3 year old told me he was disappointed in me then proceeded to call my husband a cheeky turd. And no, we are not British.” – Ashley P. “My four-year-old had a booboo so I said ‘Let me look at it!’ and she replied ‘No! You’re not a doctor!’”. – Katie R. “’Can I get a buttcrack?!’ Our son was two and he had just heard his Daddy say that he had to get up at the buttcrack of dawn for work. Also, our daughter said the other day ‘I love everybody in my whole life. I just need someone to marry me. Can I marry daddy?’ I told her I was married to daddy. She said ‘you should marry someone else. I want to marry daddy.’” – Sarah P. “I hurt my hand or something once, and my oldest daughter, who was 2 or so at the time, didn't say anything. So, I asked ‘Where's the love?’ She just looks at me and says ‘It left’ then continues watching her show. Ouch.” – Mandy B. “I was having a bad day last week, and I sat down on the couch and sighed. My 3 year old said, ‘Mommy are you sad?’ And I said, ‘Yes baby. Mommy is sad.’ He comes over and grabs my face lovingly, smiled and said, ‘You should take a bath. You're stinky.’” -Krystin K. “Not my kid, but I’m a teacher. Last year we made gingerbread men and a little girl grabbed the icing and straight up said ‘I’m going to draw eyebrows on mine like Mommy draws her eyebrows on!’ and it took everything in me not to die laughing.” - Katherine Y. “My husband and I want a third baby someday, so as I was packing up few clothes up one day, and my 3-year-old asked me what I was doing. ‘I am saving these clothes in case we have another baby boy one day.’ He responds, ‘I want a baby sister.’ I tell him that we don’t get a say in the gender and he crosses his arms and says “But I already have a brother. I do not want another one of those.’” – Alex Z.

January always comes with people deciding to live a new lifestyle and setting weight-loss goals for themselves. There are many different diets out there that you may be tempted to try. That is why we wanted to break down a few of the hottest diet trends out there currently and give you some pros and cons about them all. It is important to be completely informed before jumping into a new diet routine. Ketogenic Diet (Keto) The Keto diet has been trending for the last few years, and many people have turned to it to lose a few pounds. The Keto diet is centered around consuming exceptionally low carbs, and high fat. The goal of this diet is to put your body into ketosis, which is when your body burns fat for fuel. Pros: Due to cutting back on carbs and avoiding sugary treats, people do see success in this diet plan. Cons: It is incredibly common to regain weight loss when they are stopping the Keto diet. Also, since this diet is exceedingly high in saturated fat, it is horrible for cardiovascular health. 9
Intermittent Fasting This diet revolves around an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. For example, someone may not eat past 8 pm the night before, and not eat again until noon the next day. Meaning, their body fasts for 16 hours. Pros: Early research is showing that this can do wonders for your metabolism and aid in weight loss . Cons: This method can lead to health problems if you overeat or binge when it comes time to eat, or if you don’t eat enough calories, your body lacks proper nutrition, and results in low energy levels. Gluten-Free Though this lifestyle change is required by some due to allergies, many have turned to it to shed some pounds. Lovers of this diet claim that gluten is an inflammatory and cutting it out can improve your health and promotes weight loss. Pros: You will cut out a lot of extra calories and high-carb foods in your diet. Cons: A gluten-free diet is very restrictive and hard to stick to. It can also lead to insufficient intake of B vitamins and fiber.
The Mediterranean Diet This traditional diet is based on the individuals that live by the Mediterranean Sea. It involves eating a lot of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, complex carbs, fish, seafood, and olive oil. Mediterranean dieters also eat a moderate amount of poultry, eggs, cheese, and yogurt. They only consume red meat rarely and limit processed foods and sweets. Pros: This diet has been shown to reduce chronic diseases and aid in weight loss. Cons: Not recommended for people that do not enjoy seafood.
At the end of the day, weight loss is all about calories in vs calories out. To lose weight, you must burn more calories in a day than you consume. It is important to track your calories, drink plenty of water, and exercise. Also remember, you can still have your favorite treats in moderation, and weight loss is a slow process. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Find what works best for you and stick to it. 10
Since Fall 2014 when it opened its first Clarksville and Hopkinsville locations, Planet Fitness has been the Fort Campbell community’s go-to, low-cost, high-value fitness partner. A third club joined the local scene on Clarksville’s Madison St. in October of 2019 further deepening the Judgement Free Zone’s area relationship. “The Fort Campbell community really is the backbone of our clubs,” said Planet Fitness Regional Manager Kelsey Forsythe. “From day one, they have embraced our concept that fitness should be available to all regardless of income and experience. We hope we’ve been able to meet and exceed their expectations over the past six years.” To make sure it is giving its members the best fitness experience possible, Clarksville’s Fort Campbell Blvd club recently underwent an entire re-equip with more than 100 new cardio pieces and 60 strength training machines. This renovation allowed Planet Fitness to make some subtle changes and additions to its equipment mix and meet demands that did not exist when the club opened. “Members really guided us through the renovation process with their comments and feedback,” said Forsythe. “We welcomed them back with more stair climbers as well as the introduction of a more complete cycling area. What remains the same is the overwhelming numbers of cardio machines such as treadmills and ellipticals.” As with all other businesses in 2020, Planet Fitness has been impacted by the global pandemic. However, the brand and its clubs have always worked to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and sanitization. These high standards have been improved even further and social distancing efforts have made working out even safer and healthier than before. As the calendar flips forward 2021, Planet Fitness is ready to welcome back members who may have stayed away from fitness centers in 2020. Members old and new can be assured the Planet Fitness team will be doing everything it can to make their return safe and as comfortable as possible. “One of the few positives to come out of 2020 is how in tune we are about healthy habits. Fitness is important and one of the easy things we can do to boost our immune system. At Planet Fitness, we have built our brand on making fitness open and available to everyone. Combine that with our dedication to cleanliness and superior customer service, we’re ready for whatever 2021 brings us,” said Forsythe. Planet Fitness memberships begin at just $10 a month with no commitment. January will feature promotions reducing enrollment fees to $1 or less. All three Fort Campbell locations are open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Interested in learning more? Stop by for a no obligation tour of any club or visit planetfitness.com. 11

Martin Luther King Jr was an incredible man that changed the course of history forever. That is why every year on January 20th, we honor him. It is a day to stop and thank him for all his life-changing work. This unforgettable man truly changed how the world views things. MLK was a Civil Rights leader that was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15th, 1929. This ground-breaking and earth-shaking leader never backed down and let the world know his stand against racism. He dedicated his entire life to his cause. His mission was to achieve equality and justice for all Americans of all colors. MLK believed in peaceful refusal and protest to obey unjust laws was the best way to bring change. If you are looking for a way to celebrate this day, there are a ton of informational and honorable ways to do so. One terrific idea is to dig deeper into a few of his speeches with your children. Sit down and explain to them who MLK was, and the impact that he had on the world through his fantastic speeches. A great one to start with is his 1964 Nobel Peace Prize address. You can also host your own giving march. Break out of your comfort zone, and as a group, go out and make a difference in someone’s day. Going out and volunteering is an amazing way to celebrate this holiday as well as honor this great man. He dedicated his entire life to helping people and making a change. January 20th is the perfect day to begin doing the same. Pass out food to the homeless, pay for someone’s gas, or take up donations for a local animal shelter or food pantry. One small act of kindness can really make an impact. Due to cold weather, you may be forced to stay indoors. If that is the case, cozy up with your family and watch a documentary on MLK. Two great options are the documentaries ‘Eyes on the Prize’ and ‘Selma’. One final unique way to honor this holiday is to plant a tree in your backyard. It is not only great for the environment, but it is an amazing symbol of growth. Every time you look at that tree growing and changing, you will think of a remarkable leader that did the same.

The Lying Life of Adults by Elena Ferrante This New York Time’s bestseller and soon to be Netflix series is a must read this winter season. “Giovanna’s pretty face is changing, turning ugly, at least so her father thinks. Giovanna, he says, looks more like her Aunt Vittoria every day. But can it be true? Is she really changing? Is she turning into her Aunt Vittoria, a woman she hardly knows but whom her mother and father clearly despise? Surely there is a mirror somewhere in which she can see herself as she truly is. Giovanna is searching for her reflection in two kindred cities that fear and detest one another: Naples of the heights, which assumes a mask of refinement, and Naples of the depths, a place of excess and vulgarity. She moves from one to the other in search of the truth, but neither city seems to offer answers or escape.” The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel This thrilling novel is in the middle of a massive Ponzi scheme failure and the mysterious disappearance of a woman from a ship at sea. “In this captivating story of crisis and survival, Emily St. John Mandel takes readers through often hidden landscapes: campgrounds for the near-homeless, underground electronica clubs, the business of international shipping, service in luxury hotels, and life in a federal prison. Rife with unexpected beauty, The Glass Hotel is a captivating portrait of greed and guilt, love and delusion, ghosts and unintended consequences, and the infinite ways we search for meaning in our lives.”
Death in Her Hands by Ottessa Moshfegh A note found in the woods changes the course of an elderly woman’s life forever. Has there even been a murder? “While on her daily walk with her dog in a secluded woods, a woman comes across a note, handwritten and carefully pinned to the ground by stones. "Her name was Magda. Nobody will ever know who killed her. It wasn't me. Here is her dead body." But there is no dead body. Our narrator is deeply shaken; she has no idea what to make of this. She is new to this area, alone after the death of her husband, and she knows no one.”
Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth From the author of Divergent, Veronica Roth is back with another thrilling novel that is sure to take readers on an amazing journey. “Fifteen years ago, five ordinary teenagers were singled out by a prophecy to take down an impossibly powerful entity wreaking havoc across North America. He was known as the Dark One, and his weapon of choice—catastrophic events known as Drains—leveled cities and claimed thousands of lives. Chosen Ones, as the teens were known, gave everything they had to defeat him. After the Dark One fell, the world went back to normal . . . for everyone but them. After all, what do you do when you’re the most famous people on Earth, your only education was in magical destruction, and your purpose in life is now fulfilled?” 24
