The cold and rainy temperatures mean that outdoor playtime is a no-go. For many parents, this is a nightmare. The constant complaints of “I’m bored” and “There is nothing to do” seem to be on repeat. Built up energy can also make anyone go insane. That is why having a long list of fun indoor activities for your kids to partake in is so important. There are endless possibilities, you just have to find them. So, have no fear, the fun indoor play list is here.

Learn to Juggle

Who wouldn’t want to have this awesome party trick up their sleeve? Put a Youtube tutorial up on the TV, grab a few soft balls, and get ready to have a ton of fun laughs. Not only will your children have a blast, but so will you. Learning something new is always a great time.

Sleeping Bag Wrestling If you have two or more children, break out the sleeping bags and get ready for the ultimate wrestling match. Toss the sleeping bag over their heads and let them go at it. Keep a close eye on them to make sure they don’t have any trouble breathing and that they stay away from any furniture. But, this super simple game is sure to bring some smiles.

Name That Song Having your own gameshow in your house is tons of fun. Gather your competitors and equip them with a pot or pan and a spoon. Play the beginning of a tune and whoever thinks they know the answer can buzz in by beating on their pan. After 10 rounds, the winner gets some candy of their choice.

Trash Can Shootout Gather a few trash cans and extra pieces of paper. Set a timer on your phone for 2 minutes. Each player then must crumple up the paper and shoot it into the trashcan. When the timer goes off, count how many paper balls made it into the trashcan. Whoever has the most, wins!

Learn a New Dance There are new dance routines constantly being posted online. Go to Youtube and find one that catches your eye. Use the day to learn this new dance routine with your children. Allow them to set up a surprise performance for your spouse or other family members when they return home at the end of the day.

Put on a Fashion Show Cold and rainy days are the perfect time for your kids to raid your closet and put on a fashion show. Let them throw on those pieces that haven’t been worn in years. Watching their eyes light up will be worth the closet clean up.

Build a Fort Fort building is one of the ultimate indoor activities. Search around the house for a few boxes, blankets, chairs, and Christmas lights and build the day away. How extravagant can you get? Just a warning, after it is built, you may not ever get your children to come out of it.

Bake a Mug Cake Baking is such a great pastime for children. Getting to create yummy treats can be so rewarding. But, when multiple kids want a different kind of cake, things can get a little wild. That is why mug cakes are the perfect solution. Everyone can create their own unique treat. 7

Tie Dye Some Shirts If you have some old shirts that need some new life breathed into them, then dyeing them bright and crazy colors might just do the trick. Tie dyeing is so much fun, and the trend never gets boring. There are so many simple methods online that are just waiting to be tried out.

Finger Paint a Masterpiece Finger painting is adored by so many kids. Not only do you get to make a mess, but you get to be creative and have fun. Lay down some old newspapers on tile floor, and let your kids go at it. It is always so special to hold onto their old artwork as they grow older.

Cuddle Up and Read Keeping things simple by cuddling up on the couch and reading a few books is a great cold weather activity. Not only does it help your child learn, but you also get some sweet hugs from some of your favorite people. What is better than that?

Balloon Volleyball Blow up a few balloons and make sure they never touch the ground. Put a timer on and see just how long you can keep the balloon in the air before it touches the ground. Make things a little harder by adding a new balloon every minute or so. How many can you keep in the air at once?

Write Letters Do you have family and friends that live out of town? Then have your kids sit down and write them a special letter. Nothing beats a random letter from a loved one. It will be a special keepsake for someone that you cherish.

Go Fish It seems like no one just sits down with a deck of cards and plays a game of Go Fish. This game is a classic and is so simple to play. It is a game that they can pass down to their kids as well.

Play Hide and Seek When is the last time you played hide and seek? There are probably hiding spots in your home that you haven’t ever even thought about. Children love this game, and it is sure to help them get out some of their stored-up energy.

Finding the perfect gift for your partner can get a little tricky on Valentine’s Day. After spending a few years together, the usual box of chocolates and the teddy bear can get a tad boring. This year, try giving them something a little more fun and exciting that they won’t expect. Here is a list of unique Valentine’s Day gifts that your loved one is sure to adore. Spread Seeds

Instead of gifting flowers that will die in a few days, try the gift of planting seeds together. Getting a flower pot, soil, and seeds is a fun twist on this traditional present. Being able to watch the plant grow and bloom will be an amazing experience.

New Cologne Everyone loves for their partner to smell fresh and clean. Gift them new cologne that is saved especially for date nights and special occasions. When that smell hits the air, you will know that you are in for a magical evening. Personalized Boxers Who doesn’t love a good laugh every now and then? Ordering a personalized pair of boxers is a silly present that your spouse may not expect. They will also make a great keepsake as well. Just make sure they stay washed before they get packed away.

Matching Personalized Mugs If you are a coffee loving couple, then matching mugs is the way to go. It will be a sweet reminder every morning when that coffee is being poured that your love for each other is just as strong. The mugs can be used for years and will always be special.

Personalized Art Art pieces can really turn any house into a home. That is why having a good collection of pictures, art, and other wall décor is so important. Create your spouse a piece of artwork that can be hung in your home and admired every single day. Shaving Kit Are you not a fan of facial hair and the prickly kisses that come with it? Then the gift of a shaving kit is perfect. Not only is it useful, but it is sure to bring a few jokes and laughs along with it.

Weighted Blankets Gifting a weighted blanket is almost like gifting a nice and warm hug. Weighted blankets bring so much comfort to its users. It is also a magnificent present for when couples have to spend a ton of time apart. It can cuddle you all night long.

Matching T-Shirts The gift of clothes is always a safe and great idea. Who doesn’t need new clothes? Creating a unique t-shirt design that is special to you and your spouse is something that will bring you a lot of joy for many wears down the road.

You don’t have to go out and spend a ton of money to have a great Valentine’s day. Cuddling up on the couch with some wine, popcorn, and a great romantic movie is enough to make the day unforgettable. To assist in making the ultimate movie playlist for this love filled day, we asked local military spouses for their favorite romance movies of all time. Here is what they had to recommend. “My absolute favorite romantic movie to watch with my husband is Titanic. It is a classic film that is deeper than just watching a regular film. The history behind the real ship is so interesting all on its own. I think we watch this movie together at least 5 times a year.” Sabrina from Arkansas

“To All the Boys I Loved Before is a great romantic comedy on Netflix. It seems like it would just be for younger teens, but I got my husband to sit through the whole thing. He won’t admit he enjoyed it, but I know we both did.” Kayla from Oklahoma

“The Notebook has to be mentioned on the list somewhere. Every girl ever has wanted to watch this movie with their husbands at least once. Valentine’s Day would be the perfect day to talk them into finally watching it with you.” Taylor from Tennessee “The Fault in Our Stars makes both of us bawl like a baby. It is so sweet and heartwarming, but tragic at the same time. It is a great movie to watch with your loved one and just cuddle. I think it is great for a Valentine’s Day movie marathon.” Lynda from Ohio 11

“10 Things I Hate About You is my romantic comedy go-to. It is awesome. I never get tired of it. I also never get tired of seeing Heath Ledger. I was a huge fan of his. I still can’t believe he is gone sometimes.” Dee from Hawaii

“People will probably laugh, but the Twilight series is my romantic movie favorite. The cheesiness and nostalgia that comes with watching it makes it worth it. My husband laughs when I request it, but he never puts up a fight against it. Love it or hate it, it is a classic.” Tiffany from Colorado

“We enjoy watching the movie ‘Love Actually’. It is a fantastic romantic comedy to watch if you’re in the mood for such. I watch it every year around this time. It has almost become a tradition for me.” Vikki from California

“I am about to show my age a little here, but ‘Pretty Woman’ has to be said. It is the ultimate romantic comedy. It put so many big names on the map. It deserves to be recognized too. I try to watch it often. It brings me many smiles.” Sharon from Texas

Cook your macaroni noodles for 8 - 9 minutes. Strain and set aside. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Sprinkle the flour, white pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper over the melted butter. Whisk out all the lumps. Stir in the milk a little at a time. Add a little more once the previous one has been incorporated entirely. Add all of the medium cheddar cheese and half of the extra sharp cheddar cheese, stir into the milk/flour sauce until melted. No, we are not just talking about Saint Valentines Day. February is actually American Heart Month. And the heart is something we should take very seriously. Did you know: • Heart disease is the leading killer of Americans, taking the lives of 2,200 people each day. In addition, 103 million adults have high blood pressure and 6.5 million are living with heart failure. • Heart disease is also the number one killer of women, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined. These are scary numbers. Concerned about your heart? These are 5 tips for a happy, healthy heart!

1) Know Your Numbers Step number one in any process is simply being aware. The American Heart Association recommends that you be aware of five key numbers: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). At your next doctor’s appointment, be sure to note these numbers.

2) Cardio Your heart is actually a muscle and each day it works hard pumping blood and oxygen through your body. And yes, moving your body and increasing your heart rate through moderate to high-intensity physical activity on a consistent basis can help lower your blood pressure and make your heart stronger. Staying physically active helps keep the heart and blood vessels healthy. Only 1 in 5 adults meets the physical activity guidelines of getting 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity activity. My recommendation is to get outside or get moving with walking, hiking, swimming or even biking. Aim for 10-30 minutes a day to get in the habit.

3) Build Muscle The American Heart Association recommends just two days per week of strength training workouts. Don’t overthink strength training. You can purchase a resistance band at any store or online. Start simple with 10 of each: squat, shoulder press, curl, row. Repeat 3x and add a plank at the end.

4) Food Salt increases your blood pressure. Replacing foods high in sodium with fresh fruits and vegetables can help lower blood pressure. But only 1 in 10 adults is getting enough fruits and vegetables each day. An apple a day might actually help keep the doctor away!

5) Manage Stress We all have it. It is hard to avoid. If you carry any other of these heart risk factors, its of the utmost importance to focus on the good. Keeping a daily gratitude journal is a great, simple way to mange stress.
