September is such an odd month to me because down here in the South, it is still pretty warm but it is also the beginning of fall. I like September. It seems like a good, relaxing month before the holiday season starts to kick in and a great time to get involved in lot of fun activities. Thankfully, MWR always has great stuff going on. Want to get your child started on a new hobby? Check out SKIES Unlimited for the awesome opportunities. Are you a Single Soldier, geographical bachelor or Single parent Soldier? Our BOSS program is one of the best and there is always something to do! Who doesn’t love pizza? Pizza is one of the only things in life that has never let me down (slight exaggeration) and MWR’s pizza always hits the spot whenever I am craving it for lunch. Another thing I love along with pizza is video games. I am a huge Nintendo and Overwatch fan and MWR also satisfies the gamer in me with not just one but two great Jenelle Grewell, Editor facilities to play video games. BETTER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE SOLDIERS Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) is an amazing program that single Soldiers are encouraged to participate in. But what exactly is BOSS? Who do you go to learn more about the BOSS program here at Fort Campbell? The President and Vice President are here to help!

1. What does BOSS do (in your own words)? BOSS helps single Soldiers (single, unmarried/divorced, geographical bachelors, and single parents) with just about anything. Community Service and Leisure and Recreation activities don’t even scratch the surface of the program. The BOSS program is overviewed by the Garrison Command Sergeant Major and works in conjunction with MWR. With that much support being received here on Fort Campbell alone, the program thrives. With an outstanding MWR Advisor, Tenesa Davis, supporting the BOSS team, very little cannot be accomplished. One way BOSS aids single Soldiers is by connecting them with groups of Soldiers with similar interests and shows them local activities they may not have known existed. BOSS also serves as an advocate for all single Soldiers and acts as an alternative route for a chain of command that shuts out the single Soldier. -SPC Fredi Clarke, Installation BOSS Vice President

2. How do you think BOSS has benefited you and all the Soldiers who participate in BOSS activities? BOSS has benefited me in so many ways. Although I am the current Vice President, I am still a single Soldier. As a single Soldier so far from home, and without a Family of my own, I find comfort in the BOSS program. I enjoy being around other Soldiers just like me, who are far from home, and don’t know this post or the local community, or the people here very well. It makes my stay here at Fort Campbell easier, and affords me the opportunity to make new friends and experience new and different things. -SPC Fredi Clarke, Installation BOSS Vice President

3. What about volunteering with BOSS? Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. The local community provides so much support for our installation that can’t even be seen on a day to day basis. So when they ask for support in return, it becomes our way of giving back to a community that has given so much for us. Volunteer opportunities are frequently coming up for Soldiers, so it is important to keep an eye out for opportunities to be announced or call our office and ask about future opportunities. Finally, don’t let the fact that BOSS may not be having a volunteer event stop you from volunteering where you can. Even if it’s just an hour or two on post at a gym or at the USO, it greatly assists them in bettering Soldiers’ lives.
