The Just World Youth Poetry Slam first took place online from March to July, 2021. Originally conceived as a collaboration between Creativity & Change, MTU, Cork and the Irish Refugee Council, it had been intended as a space for young poets from around Ireland to address issues of global injustice and
inequality through their words. However, to our initial surprise and delight, people showed up from all over the world, having come across the event
advertised online. The poems shared that night - and at the following slams - were beautiful, hard-hitting, uncomfortable and powerful. The poets are
eloquent, wise and brave; just some of their words are collected in this zine. We leave the first ‘Just World’ series feeling connected us to something bigger. There are no borders here.
