01 International Cruise Terminal (Mangalore)
Introduction
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES :
Tourism is travel for recreation, leisure, religious, family or business purposes, usually for a limited duration. Tourism is commonly associated with international travel, but may also refer to travel to another place within the same country. Tourism has been placed on a priority platform in India with the government to stimulate economic and social development since 19th century. Thereby transforming economics has been internationally acknowledged. Cruise tourism represents one such avenue where for reaching developments have been witnessed worldwide. Cruise Tourism is traveling for leisure to various destinations on a ship. The ships are not involved in the transportation industry like the ferries or the cargo ships. A cruise ship or cruise liner is a passenger ship used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship’s amenities are a part of the experience, as well as the different destinations along the way.
• The main aim of the design is to provide a cruise terminal which will serve as an intermediate port for international cruises and a destination for the domestic cruises as the government seeks to give importance to Mangalore as an overall tourist destination. • The terminal should be an initiative to boost cruise tourism within the country as well. • Also to have public participattion / public spaces which will add to the revenue to the terminal. • The research will explore various design aspects that will make up a Cruise Terminal and implement it.
CRUISE TOURISM : INDIAN SCENARIO
International Tourists In India The Eight Five Year Plan of the Government of India had envisaged a growth target of 12% per annum in international tourist arrivals during the Plan period. The actual figures however fell short substantially due to various sociopolitical unrest across the globe and in the country as well and registered an average annual growth rate of 8% only.
Transportation is not the prime purpose, as cruise ships operate mostly on routes that return passengers to their originating port, so the ports of call are usually in a specified region of a continent. In this case the cruise terminal is not a port of call but an intermediate point where the cruise embarks for a day. Thus spaces are to be designed keeping in mind the duration of stay of the cruise.
CRUISE TOURISM : REGIONAL SENERIO
DATA COLLECTION
FOREIGN TOURIST TO MANGALORE Mangalore has been one of the major tourist destinations in India for Foreign visitors 11% of the total foreigners visiting the country as is visible.
INTRODUCTION
As the topic is a cruise terminal there are mainly services which are to be taken care of .Also the spaces in the terminal have to meet the requirements and the standards. Various circulation patterns are studied which helps in planning of the terminal The data collection in this section will help in forming standards for various spaces for the cruise terminal. TERMINAL CIRCULATION TERMINAL SPACES
During the years from 2005 to 2013, the share of foreign tourists as share of total tourists visiting Mangalore has considerably increased from 11.83% in 2005 to 22.39% in 2013 as shown in the table. This is significantly higher than the normal trend of about 3.37% (2008) of foreign tourists observed in India.

DESIGN
FORM EVOLUTION
This Form is much attractive and the movement is very flexible. So I thought that when this form is evolve as a building is better and aesthetic and the circulation spaces were more flexible as much as like a stingray.
Decided to separate the shape in a symmetrical pattern for the use of two berth space for the vessels.
CONCEPT
The two wings are act as a both arrival and departure space.
- This Centre Space is act as a main circulation space. - That central space combine the both side of the arrival and departure movement.
02 Revitilizing Sports Culture (INFORMAL URBANISM)
Revitilizing Sports Culture (INFORMAL URBANISM) Static and Kinetic Urban area comprise two components that occupies same physical space. It is temporal articulation and circulation of space which not only creates a richer sensibility of spatial occupation but also suggests how spatial limits are expanded to include formally unimagined situations in dense urban conditions.
Informal Urbanism in our perspective
An unforeseen change or situation which brings in unimagined population in already dense urban condition. This unforseen change results in solutions which aren’t long term and it leads to major urban issues like white Elephent. The Fifa World cup, Olympics Games and similar events often serve as catalysts for the regeneration of urban areas and for the construction of new infrastructure and sport facilities.
1945
Aftermath For two golden weeks, the eyes of the world are trained in the mega Estadio Liuis Sitjar Mallorco, spain event. Next week, the media spotlight swings back. 1945

Inferences Major resource depletion. Land resource Money Meterial resouse Man power ISSUE SOLUTION PROBLEM PROPER PLANING
1950 Osaka Stadium Osaka, Japan 1950
The home team of this stadium left in 19988 and it was expected for the stadium to reopen with new team or be transformed into a concert stadium. however, the company that purchased the land transformed it into a housing block. interscting streets were build through the stadium as well and this remained for 10 years until it was demolished. Today stand a officee and shopping complex.

1953 Stadium Za Luzankami Brno, Czech Republic 1953
The tenant of this soccor stadium moved in 2001due to the stadium not meeting FIFA regulations. The stadium fell into disrepair,as homeless people began living in the stand and the field not begin maintained as trees and bushes grew.

quite active both of to previous tanants, the lions and pistons, moved to new stadium. This left the owner with an empty pit for year as the city of detroit endured its economic catastrophe. Eventually they stripped the stadium down and auctioned off what they cold.
This abandoned stadium once hosted the volleyball games of athens 2004 Olympics. Greece suffered six years of depression, Unemployment, poverty and homelessness.
Revitilizing Sports Culture (INFORMAL URBANISM) Inferences The post-games use of all above investments is the challenge. Exploitation of the games legacy and the urban infrastructure developed, should be carefully planned and incorporated into long-term strategy targeting the cultural and economic development that would have a beneficial impact on the country as a whole.
SITE AND SITE SURROUNDING
INDIA
Why we choose FIFA? There are many stadium left to rot and in state of disrepair we found that the major cause behind this is the lack of flexibility in design spaces, hence we thought of coming up with a pre planned design for the future use. Despite of wasting a massive amount of public money, we thought of giving it back to the society. Issues The infrastructure left behind is in the condition of disrepair (white elephant). A large amount of money, resource (materials), massive man power gets involved which at the end goes down the drain.
MUMBAI
SITE
MUMBAI For a developing country, the city perfectly demonstrates urbanisation in India. The metropolis of Mumbai is often called Slumbai or Slumbay with probably the largest number of slum-dwellers in the world (over six milion).
Challenge Our Challenge – To explore new spatial organizations that allow greater flexibility in stadium’s form and function. This flexibility support different scenarios of the stadium life. Socially Responsible venues that can play an important role in the economic, social and cultural improvement of the specific urban area. IN INDIA, THERE ARE MORE DEMADE OF BASIC NEED SO WE COULD NOT WASTE OUR SOURCES. SO THAT WE ARE GOING TO DO MORE POSIBLE AND FUNCTIONAL NEED. SO DEVELOPING COUNTRYS ALSO PLAN TO DO NOT SPOIL THERE SOURCES.

TEXTILE HUB
(RETAILED SHOPING CENTRE)
Textile Hub Introduction Texvalley is india‘s largest wholesale textile market in erode, the heart of southindia‘s textile industry. Texvalley is designed to be the one-step destination for the entire range of wholesale textile goods. it brings together over 1100 traders under one roof. To transform the region into thriving textile hub by doing business with a whole new perspective. Introduction textile manufatureing is a majar industry which is based on the conversion of fiber into yarn, yarn into fabric. These are then ded or printed, fabricated into clothes. These finished products come together to showcase itself to the world through thextile hub. The Concept yarn consists of several strands of material twisted together each strand is, in turn, made of fiber, all shorter than the piece of yarn that they form. These short fibres are spun into longer filaments to make the yarn.
Zoning
04 ZAKYANTA TROPHY (waterfront development)
WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT: Location: River bank of cooum river, tamilnadu. WHY cooum river bank?? a upcoming metro city would having a river front development would helps the city and the surroundings gives an in estimable resource embodying the history and charisma of the community in its vicinity. the river and its surroundings are a highly stressed environment. This Urban stream, would helps to increase its value on tourism and a recreational centre in a crowded city. nearly, 70types of species are in the river. IN FUTURE: Riverfront landscape is a good carrier reflecting city’s character, conveying very local charm to people. A riverfront is not only rich in natural landscape resources, but also maintains abundant cultural landscape resources. Riverfronts provide entertainment venues for swimming, fishing, rowing, water skiing, skating and other water activities in a city. Landscape planning of riverfronts can revitalize the local economy and promote the development of tertiary industry.
a WATERFRONT development: a river attracts people, hence riverfronts have emerged as lively urban cores of cities, Their socio-cultural, intellectual and economic centres Chennai needs to pull its waterfront back from marginal use and neglect into the mainstream of public activity and investment. We proposed to provide a unique set of opurtunities to generate quality urban spaces for the people. Today, everyone recognizes the value of public access to the waterfront offers investors a promising return on capital. Cities enjoy increased tourism, employment and growth. we done some new proposals to increase its cultural value and encourage the recreational ambience in the urban settlements scenario.
conceptual analysis: Being a waterfront design, we able to relate the water in a drastic manner, first we took out a stone through out the water, the water tends to splash on either sides, the form relates as a frozen movement of energy in terms of force.
Splash and wave, easily relates the force of water, why dont we relate these two in a combined manner, that’s the spark while developing in our design evolution. the sea wave hits the stone in the wind flow, the water tends to make a splash on either side, that makes our builf form more liable to the current scenario.
Zoning:
pedestrian pathway retail shops bicycle track
and suddenly, we relates the sea wave as our form, so as it will be easy to emphazise the movement of water force. To show off the energy associated on that place.
finally, we derived the half splash form for the aquarium to delebrates the visual ambience of the water flow.
aquarium/museum
Thus, it is easy to relate the movement of water and its emerging aestheical ambience creates a blend with nature and its characterists.

SKATE YARD:
Nowadays, youngsters play a vital role is spending time inparks in recreational zones, so we created the OAT for gathering and relaxation. and we done some series of arches by means of water sprinklers to relates the movement ambience.
To encourage the bicycle riders for their private cycling and skating practises, to make some privacy to the people who make some stunts in skates and cycles.
AQUARIUM:
BOAT YARDS:
Nearly 70 type of species are in the rivter, so we encourage the aqua life by means of aquariums and underwater museums for make some clean zones.
To encourage the sea transport as in the ancient times of cooum river and reduce the traffic compliances by means of sea water transport.

PRODUCT DESIGN (HAWKER MODULE)
CONCEPT:The concept used for the product design is telescope. the reason behind for the telescope is , it is mpre flexible and it is portable to all the places. during the ancient time, it is used to view the futuristic objects, just like that this product is viewed towards the future. which will be portable and comfortable to the people.
SITE:Location :- kumbakonam , t.s. r. big street (near maha magam) why kumbakonam? kumbakonam big street is a cramped area with more density of population. accessibility of people is igh and therefore the demand for the streets food. so, the people like a street shops needs less place to accomodate his shop.
EVOLUTION OF FORM WORKING METHOD: The product is mobile and based on the concept of telescope. This is made into a single large compartment by the fusion of all other parts. the roof is also mobile by the concept behind it. The roof is foldable and is light in weight .
