Let’s start in the Northeast And call ‘em out by name The first state we begin with is Maine! Then New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts Connecticut and Rhode Island (Which is not really an island) Now the Mid-Atlantic States New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania Maryland, and Delaware Where? Delaware Where? DelaWhere? DelaWhere? There! And now let’s head down South To Virginia, West Virginia Carolina North and South And Kentucky, which is north of Tennessee And Georgia, Florida, Alabama, too Just an old sweet song That keeps Louisiana on my mind Mississippi. M. I. SS. I. SS. I. PP. I. Arkansas, which looks like ArKANSAS but really it is ArkanSAW And the rest is Oklahoma and Texas
We call the Midwest the Heartland Because its got lots of heart and Ohio and Indiana, Illinois and Michigan Wisconsin, Michigan again [the Upper Peninsula] Minnesota, Missouri and Iowa North and South Dakota, Nebraska Waves of grain on a patchwork plain And Kansas, too. The West is rocky and plain-y And seldom ever rainy Montana’s got big sky Wyoming and Idaho are close by There’s the 4 corners of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona And then there is Nevada That’s how the West was done. Yippeeei-oh! Yippeeei-ay! Now let’s get specific With the states of the Pacific Washington, Oregon, California And don’t forget Alaska and Hawaii, too. Yeah!!!!!!
